sinks

Did not think that i would get this much action on this post, but thanks to everyone who replied. To the person who said he uses his sink for a catch all that is just what i do with mine, keys sunglasses huggies and whatever else will fit in there. Will try to think of something i could do with the space if i removed the sink. Might take the sink out square off the hole and fit a nice recessed container in it that will hold more junk like sunglasses for passengers that come on board without them, the first thing they say is why do i need sunglasses and i just say you will find out when we start rolling down the river.

I use the fresh water tank for the transom shower. The sink is just a pain in the ass because the kids mess with it, then I turn the pump on and it starts dumping water or spraying everywhere. I'd rather have the storage space or something else.

Y'all are deducting the interest paid on boat loans against your income correct? Cash buyers are SOL?

I think if it qualifies as a second home you can deduct interest and I think if you own the space it is stored you can deduct the taxes on that. i.e., I own a rack (don't rent it, own it) and I could deduct the taxes on that.

Vette is right. Didn't know about the storage but the interest on the loan can be deducted just like a house if the boat qualifies. Yes cash buyers are sol

I used to own a boat (non-performance) with a sink. Never overnighted on it, but still used the sink all the time.

Like others have said, it's nice to have when you boat in salt water - rinsing the salt off your sunglasses, your face, etc.

my sunsation had a sink. I peed in it a few times while too drunk or too lazy to walk down the docks in the middle of the night. That's about all it's good for. Just make sure it drains out of the hull and not into the bilge like most coolers do.

lol!

Generally speaking, you could purchase any boat using a home equity line of credit or loan and deduct the interest paid on the HELOC or HEL regardless if the boat qualifies as a second home. There are some limitations and caveats so you should discuss with your tax preparer.

One when you step in the cuddy across from the head and one in the head that can be used as a shower in the head. But no hot water.

There is stuff in both of them all the time but cannot name one thing.
