hot rodding mercury 292 inline 6cyls

has anyone rebuilt these engines to gain more hp? friend of mine found a formula 233 with a pair. Can anyone reccommend a good engine builder on long island ny?

unless your trying to do something to be specifically different and "outside the box" (which i do understand) it would be far cheaper to just swap in a small block chev. Performance parts for that inline six are gonna be pricey in comparison. I actually have a boat with that motor in it, my grandfathers 21 Thompson, and i have thought the same thing from time to time.

I took this 24 Cig from twin 292 alpha's to single 496HO and Bravo X drive for less than the cost of building up the 292's and gain 50% in speed.

Now that might be kinda cool albeit not the most efficient way to go

Nice job Brian, dont doubt those numbers one bit.

perfect setup to swap a couple of supra motors in. Mildly tuned you could gain 300hp per motor and lose some weight.
