reasons not to like 525sc????
Iwish my next boat to be EFI. While looking, I sometimes run into some boats having these 525sc.... like this one : http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1998-...orcev4exp=true
I feel like it is either old technology, or I feel either like I want to stay away from any blower motor... for reliability reasons and maintnance of course... As of right now I rule out these, but I'm I too closed minded?? |
Had as set on a 1997 32' Ftn....and ran the living crap out of them. Loved them. Never had any issue except for a blower rebuild about 5yrs into it. I would not hesitate buying a boat with the 535sc.

Only downfall is Mercury recommends premium fuel.

Forced induction all day, every day. Forget maintenance.....you will be working your azz off with any boat.....so the question is how fast u wanna go?
|
I have 250+ trouble free hours on a pair. Fantastic motor and i've not had to touch a thing except for general maintenance stuff and occasional water pumps. The motors were over built by merc and very durable. I love the over driven blower whine

I love mine.

I had a pair in a Cig Bullet.... great engine. Wouldnt hesitate to buy another set.

Great motor, only reason to hesitate is finding parts for the blower.

I had good luck with mine. They do use more fuel than the 525 EFI's though.
