Default 2013 NJPPC Schedule Announced!!

New Jersey Performance Powerboat Club News Release
www.njppc.com

Contact: Dave Patnaude, NJPPC, 848-210-6253 or [email protected]

Toms River, NJ, March 2, 2013 - The New Jersey Performance Powerboat Club (NJPPC) Planning Committee met last month to develop the upcoming 2013 Season schedule as the club enters it’s 16th year! The NJPPC Planning Committee headed by club President Dave Patnaude, meets regularly throughout the year and makes all major decisions that impacts the club. The Planning Committee plays a huge roll in schedule planning, event rule changes, new event ideas and most importantly how to execute all of the club’s events. The Planning Committee is also well balanced in regard to the Committee members and the types of boats that they own. This ensures that all members of NJPPC are fairly represented when event planning takes place.

The following is the 2013 NJPPC Season Schedule,

Friday May 10th 2013 – Shore Dreams For Kids “CASINO NIGHT” Fundraiser

Last year’s Casino Night was a huge SUCCESS with 275 attendees! It was a night of great food, fun, live entertainment and gave away over $10,000 in prizes!!
This year we are hosting another Casino Night and are expecting over 300 people!

This annual event has proven to be a fun and relaxing one. It is also the first event of the boating season! No pre-planning and no advance registration is needed. Members come together at the Water Street Grill in Toms River NJ for an afternoon of good food and good times! It is the “official kick off” of our summer and the 2013 boating season.

Friday June 21st 2013 - Atlantic City Overnight Poker Run / Atlantic City Festival of Speed Weekend

This annual event has been the epicenter of the NJPPC schedule since it’s inception back in 1998. This year’s event will be the ‘KICK OFF” of Atlantic City’s FESTIVAL OF SPEED!!

The weekend’s festivities will be:

Friday June 21st:

This year’s event will be the most incredible Atlantic City Poker Run NJPPC has ever hosted!

Saturday July 13th 2013 - Shore Dreams For Kids

Shore Dreams enters it’s 11th year! This event originally started by the Day on the Bay Foundation in the 1970’s. In the wake of Hurricane Sandy, Shore Dreams will carry on! Right now we are considering 1 of 2 locations based in Seaside Heights or Seaside Park. We will look to finalize the exact location by May 1st. Either way, Shore Dreams will carry on the annual tradition!

This event has become an event that has not only touched the lives of the 1,000’s of children who have attended, hundreds of volunteers. This year we will be inviting Special Olympians as well as mentally and physically challenged children, special needs children, and their families. This event offers a day of entertainment which includes a “carnival atmosphere” complete with games and small rides, an antique & classic car display, food and drinks, live entertainment and performance powerboat rides on Barnegat Bay at the Jersey Shore. The boat rides are conducted by local performance powerboat owners who volunteer their time and boats to share with those less fortunate. This is definitely a DO NOT MISS event!
************************************************** **********
Saturday July 20th 2013 – Philadelphia FUN RUN

In the early years of NJPPC, we hosted several Philadelphia Poker Runs that were a lot of fun. This year the Fun Run Committee looks to revisit the Delaware River (launching at Neshaminy State Park) and heading to the Chesapeake Inn for lunch! This will be a great time for sure!
************************************************** **********
Saturday August 3rd 2013 – Barnegat Bay FUN RUN

The NJPPC Fun Run Committee is putting together a FUN RUN comprised of 1-2 stops at some of our favorite Barnegat Bay based destinations!
************************************************** **********
Saturday August 3rd 2013 – JENKINSONS BEACH PARTY
A favorite of when we had the Roar at the Shore Poker Run, we have decided to have just a “Beach Party” at our favorite Jenkinsons North! All NJPPC Members will be invited for a night of BBQ under the stars!
************************************************** **********
Saturday August 24th 2013 – “Member’s Choice” FUN RUN
The Fun Run Committee has a couple of options to choose from. Breezes in Bass River NJ or up the Hudson River or…… The Fun Run Committee will make the final call as we get closer to August.
************************************************** **********
Saturday September 14th 2013 – End of the Season Atlantic City Fun Run

The weather at the Jersey Shore in September is usually pretty spectacular. The waterways are quiet and the weather is perfect! This event has become a season end favorite!
************************************************** **********
We are very excited about the 2013 schedule and we look forward to having another SAFE & FUN season where boating and friendships flourish!

About the New Jersey Performance Powerboat Club
The New Jersey Performance Powerboat Club (NJPPC) was founded in 1998 and has over 200 members. The NJPPC is a members-run club that’s charter is to provide its members with top quality Poker Runs and other exciting events. It enthusiastically welcomes a broad cross-section of performance powerboaters to join the club. Its schedule is planned considering both smaller and larger boats. Consequently, its membership spans from owners of 18’ to 50’ boats!

Distinct from other Poker Run organizations, the club chooses to limit the number of event participants to assure safety, promote camaraderie and to facilitate a well-run, enjoyable day for all involved. The limited number also affords access to the highest quality marine facilities such as Trump Marina Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City. The club has no profit motivation prompting it to host the biggest events – but it is strongly motivated to run the best events and in that way, everybody profits! NJPPC membership is required to participate in the club Poker Runs.
For further information please visit the club’s website at: http://www.njppc.com/. NJPPC can be contacted via telephone at 848-210-6253, via email at [email protected] or via mail at: Dave Patnaude – President, NJPPC, 77 E. Water Street Apt 8 Toms River, NJ 08753.

Do you think the bay will be safe to run in by June?

You think there's any chance of ever being able to bring back a radar shootout?

We are all hoping the bay and inlets will be safe. The way it sounds right now is everything South of Toms River should be good to go this summer. It is North of the Seaside bridge that will be the toughest to clear and may be limited. The weekend/week of events in A?C this year is insane and it really does have the potential to become something huge like a summer Key West event.

As for the radar shootout, I highly doubt it because it is a speed contest. It really complicates the insurance issues and liability of all involved. NJPPC will most likely never take it on. If OPA or another racing organization wants to do it that might change things but for now, I do not see it happening.

There are three groups: Offshore, Inshore and cruiser.

The run starts in Toms River with the three start groups. Everyone stays in the bay for the first stop or two (Offshore & Inshore paced at 80mph and cruiser at 60ish) After the first part of the run, the offshore group goes out the Barnegat inlet and can run above 80 all the way down to A/C. The other two groups remain inshore at 80 & 60ish to A/C. They may or may not make a quick ocean run from Holgate inlet to A/C at the very end if it is flat. It is really a great run because everyone regroups at the card stops and it is really easy to buddy up and run with someone. I like to run inshore and enjoy the run.
