I am from the area although I live in Pensacola Beach now.

Lot's to do and see. Quite a few beach bars with live bands all along St Pete Beach. The locals will be more than glad to tell you where and plenty of nice restaurants all along the beach roads. Gators Pass-a-Grille is a very cool place to eat, bar, band, and dock a boat. As far as renting a boat you might have to google that part. Weather was nice and warm and sunny when I went a few weeks ago. Have fun!!

Not bad....little pricey at some places but it is nice. Hooters is just across from gators on the pass. Nice tiki bar downstairs in the same complex as hooters (name slips me) owned by an ex cage fighter.

Nice views of the water/pass from gators, hooters, and Bubba gumps.

their is the Ringling museum off 41 and 301

siesta key beach is a must see,the sand is like cooking flower..
me personally,i dont like all the noise at the beack from the people kicking sand all over you,,i like to relax so i go to this little beach on shell road,,cool little place that also has shaded rubber trees that you can get out of the sun and just enjoy the scenery..http://www.bing.com/maps/default.asp...en&FORM=HDRSC4

if you like to explore like me and just drive around and find cool places then you will want to go the back way to anna marie island,,you wont be dissa pointed,,some nice beaches along golf of mexico drive..as you can see in the map if dead ends at anna marie island..its like a time warp, put you back into old fasion florida kinda in a way..not all flashy..
http://www.bing.com/maps/default.asp...en&FORM=HDRSC4
Before ft meyers you can also check out venice beach,,sane is blackish their..all the sharks go their to shed their teeth and if you look in the sand you can find the teeth,,i reccoment that you stop at sharky's to get some chow and take a walk on the pien out into the gulf..on the rite day the water is really cool..
