Awhile back, I asked Paul Ray, the president of Ilmor Marine, what he thought about the idea of aftermarket supercharging kits for Ilmor engines. Here's what he had to say, http://speedonthewater.com/in-the-ne...or-engine.html.

Bring it on !

I have been waiting for this day!

I'll take two stage 3 systems.
Let see what these new engines are good for.

Dustin, please contact me when you have the kits complete - you have my contact details.

Please re-read the email I sent you late last year.
Re: New Mercruiser 8.2 whipple kits - I'm ready to order x 2 !

Cheers!

Not sure I am buying that the compression needs to be changed in order to add supercharger. A LS7 is 10.7:1 and makes great power with a supercharger. You can also add a thicker head gasket to lower the LS7 down to 10:1. I assume you could do the same to a V10 and get it under 10:1.

I think a sc for the Ilmors would be cool and make great power. I love the sound of the V10. I can only imagine what they would sound like after you add a Whipple. Oh man I want to hear that bad. LOL

Lightbulb

Reason for Ilmor not recommending S/C for their Viper engine is the same as it's not recommended for Viper cars built after 1999. The 99 Viper was the last year model [ I have ] with all forged internals that one could install a Paxton with 8 pound of boost without having issues. Max boost on the newer Viper engines with Hypereutectic pistons are not recommended past 4-5 pounds. The compression ring gland is also too close to the top of the piston is another issue. With the right internals over 1000HPcan easily be obtained for the snake engine.
