120mph was actually not too bad anything over that was pretty scary. Not sure a performance boat class will give you what you need to go that fast in a small cat. You either need huge balls or be stupid. Pretty sure my balls are about normal so I am assuming I am just stupid. LOL

My boat didn't have a windshield or canopies so you couldn't really focus on anything anyway. LOL

Small Blocks with Super chargers Rule!!!

So when going to an LS conversion, I have heard the escalade motor makes a good starting point.... how the heck to you weed thru all the wiring/electronics??

When it really comes down to it, is the LS "really" considered a small bloc? Isnt it really kind of in between?

What would it take to put together an LS for marine use, could it be done using donor blocks? What would be the best bore/stroke combination? Is 550-600HP doable reliably without building from scratch? Any pitfalls or hurdles not yet overcome?

Start with a 6.0l truck motor and add this

Some of that was brought up here: http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/g...rs-hiding.html

I thought most of the truck blocks were Gen 4's which are cast iron?? Maybe in wrong but my 6.0 in the truck was Cast Iron. Probably depends on the year.

I believe newer trucks went aluminum across the board. But that would have been after the 6.0 was phased out for the 6.2.

I heard that there might be a 427 GDI truck motor coming out. That would make an awesome boat motor!

Yes some of the newer ls2's like in the trailblazer I think could be aluminum but not 100% as they are 4000lb. bricks. On another note and ill have to dig later but a L92 conversion on a mild 6.0 LQ9 truck engine makes a easy 550hp but not sure of the torque. L92 conversion consist of using a ls2 engine (6.0) and swapping heads and intake from a ls3 6.2 Cadillac or truck I take. Yes they are ugly but cost less than a fast intake and actually make more torque and horsepower/ ill find the link later. You could also get a used PCM from any ls car or truck with correct wiring harness and have it tuned. On to the bell housing what trans and drives are some of these boats running with ls conversions as I don't know much more on drives except my TRS?

WOW...MSD has made this a simple task!!! Thanks for sharing that info....any thoughts as to what that set up costs for example to set up a LQ9?
