454 interchange question.

Going to look at a motor saturday that is in a TRS boat. I have a bravo. I know will have to swap bellhousings.Anything else different?? Is the coupler the same? Motor was supposedly rebuilt 4 years ago but never ran, would this present any issues?

the coupler is different, does the engine you are looking at have a flywheel?

havent looked at it yet. its supposed to be complete and still in a boat.

coupler is totally different .the flywheel i would keep with the motor . however the ring gear is going to be on the wrong side. the flywheel will already be cut on the side you need to use its a matter of pressing it off and back on the other side .it can be heated with a torch and simply knocked off and back on the opp side takes no more than 10 min

as long as both engines are the same generation the flywheel can be switched, the trs engine is a mark 4,what year is the bravo engine?

My boat came engineless, but with bravo gimbleand drive. I have the bravo bell housing and coupler already. Thanks for the info guys!!

TRS engine

The ring gear on the flywheel will only be wrong if the engine has a borg warner transmission with the rear mounted starter. If it has a Merc II transmision it will be fine where it is.
