Something Positive Coming Out of Hurricane Sandy
 

Great news !

With such an overwhelming response to the video, "Miracle of Route 35" my image has now been picked up for a story in a National Engineering Magazine.

An employee of Arora and Associates Engineering contacted me this week and was very impressed with the images comparing them to everything he has seen from the storm from others, that my images stood out.

He stated he clarity, and the colors were by far better than what he is used to seeing by the mainstream media and others that they typical get their images from.

The company is NJ based and we hope to work on additional projects in the future.

I need to diversify my photography business even more now and be open to shoot whatever is in demand.

My day job is not looking very promising and I will be lucky if I can make retirement with benefits. Therefore I must build upon what I really love doing and that's photography.

I followed your coverage of Hurricane Sandy. Your photos of this disaster told the story of just how devastating this disaster was and how it ruined the lives of so many families and businesses. Most people who have never experienced this kind of fury from mother nature and I hope they never do, got to see the destruction that Hurricane Sandy caused from the thousand of picture you took to documented it. You stated that you will have to diversify and plan for your future. I don't know of anyone who has such an extensive library of photo's of Hurricane Sandy and I can't believe that you haven't been contacted by some news agency or the government to sell them your documentation of Hurricane Sandy. I also wondered why you haven't made a Photo CD set of Hurricane Sandy and sell them, as it is a part of history. If you make a Photo CD set and sell them, maybe after cost and shipping you will make some money for your future and retirement. I also know that you don't want to capitalize on someone else's misfortune. I see it as no different from writing a book and telling a story but with picture that can be a very powerful story.

I have met with some Government Officials but they may have never got to my site to see the images. Otherwise I think I would have heard something.

I have donated many images to the TV Show "Tales of the Jersey Shore" .

Episode 1 has been aired and it's now on my website for viewing.

Episode 2 we have a full hour this month and airs April 16th.

Working on Episode 3 now.

I was in Atlantic City today for the Press Conference for the upcoming event in June.

Afterward, I went and shot coverage of Sandy in Brigantine.

They were served a lot of flood damage but structures of homes looked all intact.

I did come across some normalcy as I came up the back end along the bay.

As I came around this bend I found 50 + kids next to a Clubhouse.

I saw something but wasn't quite sure so I slammed on my brakes and pulled into the parking lot.

It turned out to be the Holy Spirit Girls Rowing Team !

I asked for the coach right away to ask for permission to shoot the boats, the clubhouse and the kids.

I explained to them that this is probably the 1st normalcy I have seen since Superstorm Sandy.

It was refreshing to see these kids launching their boats and go rowing.

I can't tell how great it was to see that !

This weekend there is a Fundraiser for Manasquan.

I donated images for their cause to help raise funds.
I was torn on what I should have had printed. I took suggestions and went with it.

I made "Before & After" Manasquan Strong 20 x 30 mounted image and the other image you see below.

I am in the process of collecting images for a book . I considered going with a publishing company but have no answers to date. If not, I will self publish and do it right through my online website. I may not sell as many that way, but it should be a beautiful piece compared to some of the paperbacks I have seen already out there.

I am almost 6 months into shooting this storm's Before, After & Recovery. With the expenses incurred to do over 14,000 images thus far, no matter what I decide to do, I cannot imagine it would be turning a profit on someone's loss.

At a wild guess I have over 200 miles of coastline I have been to as far north as the Verrazano Narrows Bridge and now as far south as Brigantine with mostly everything in between on multiple occasions to cover the progress..

1st off, fantastic work on the photo's.

I watched the video and was more impressed with the work that was done in such a short amount of time. It is truly amazing what can be done when the strings are cut and everyone works toward a common goal. I work in the commercial construction industry, the duration of that project ( probably 20 companies and 30 agencies overseeing the work) took less time to complete than it would have taken an architect to draw up plans for a 100K office TI. The permit review time would have been about 8 weeks alone.

Devastating event but awesome photography!! Nice job
