Why would we use China as our standard for capital punishment?
Where's the data on the effectiveness of crime prevention through severe penalties? All we've done is industrialize the prison system.
The United States ranked fifth for the highest number of executions which reflects a strict attitude toward punishment in general. The U.S. takes a spot behind China, Iran, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia for the most executions in the world last year, sitting ahead of Yemen and the Sudan.
Having a severe attitude toward the death penalty is only natural when you consider that the U.S. leads the world in mass incarceration of prisoners and holds records for solitary confinement and sentences to life in prison.

I go back and forth on the death penalty. Is it better to let him rot in prison or by killing him do we give him relief? Why not take one of his legs like he did to so many.
Then again one thing I hate is the death penalty means you have on average 17-20 years before we carry it out. Should be 2-3 max if that.
