JUPITER FL to MIAMI FL
we are planning a trip in June to run From Jupiter FL down the intercostal to Miami FL. Similar to the trip we ran last year.
http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/g...-beach-fl.html this site was a huge help in planning our last trip, as we know nothing about the area or water ways. Again we are on no schedule, and don't have to be anywhere, at anytime. Where are the good spots to stop? Sand bars, tiki bars, marina's with hotels, etc.... |
might as well run down to the keys. That's the ultimate place for sand bars, bar hopping and so on. What time in June are you planing this ? Maybe we can go do it together from Miami and we can stay at my house in the keys. Send me a PM
|
Let me know when, and I'll run part of the run with ya, meet up in Palm Beach somewhere.

I have run by boat from Miami down to Key West, it was a great trip, but not what i'm looking to do in June. We are trying to cover the entire East coast by water. Merritt to Jupiter last year, and Jupiter to Miami this year. We got to see and stop at so many different spots I would have never found had we not done this trip by water. So we are looking forward to finding the same local watering holes and skinny dippin sand bars this year. |
Like i said above PM me when you plan on doing it. I live in Miami on the water and can take you to all the "hot " spot in the water in Miami. Nixon beach, Elliot, and so on.....
|
Shoot me a pm right before you arrive. I live in Jupiter now and grew up in Miami. I've made the run in the past and if we plan it on a weekend or sunday/monday we can do it together!
|
any one know of hotels with marina's between Jupiter and Miami
|
Not sure if they rent slips overnight, but try the boca resort, just about halfway on your trip, and right inside the inlet.

It's definitely not a peach, but it is convenient; and Houston's is within walking distance. |

thank you both, and please keep them coming

Jupiter Waterfront Inn has slips as well as Sailfish Marina on Singer Island. Boca Resort is nice but it is big money and their marina is really for 2-3 yachts. If you get to the Sand's in Pompano you are just a short distance from Bahia Mar and Pier 66 (nicer hotels in the heart of Ft Lauderdale). In Miami you have Sealine Marina/Marriott just inside Govt. Cut. FPC starts their poker runs there.

Sailfish is a great choice... Beautiful, crystal clear water and right on the inlet. |
FWIW - If you were here this weekend, you could have run outside all the way from Jupiter to Miami outside! I ran from Boynton to Jupiter outside 80 no tabs just beautiful. Sea turtles and dolphins everywhere.... Great boating this weekend.
One day like that was worth it for a long time. |
Again, thanks for the input. We stayed at sailfish last year and loved it.
I think we have Sands Harbor locked down for night #2. Is there anything between Jupiter and Pompano for night #1?? Boynton Beach any good? It looks about 50 miles from Jupiter to Pompano, which isn't a problem, but we like to raft up, stop at beaches and little tiki bars, etc... 50 miles is going to push our pace more than we want. After Pompano we will have Friday and Saturday night in Ft Lauderdale and Miami. |
Boynton is nice, but dont know of any places to stay on the water, Pompano isnt really all that much further if you run the outside to Hillsboro inlet.
|
we plan to run inside. How long would you guess it would take to run inside from Jupiter to Pompano?
what about West Palm Beach or Delray Beach, anything around those area's. |
I have a Question? Has anyone from OSO done a fun run from St. Petersburg, FL. to Miami, FL. by boat? I am thinking about doing it but I just thought I would ask.

what about West Palm Beach or Delray Beach, anything around those area's. I can't think of any hotels on the water with marinas between Sailfish and Sands. (Boca Resort is one but it is pricey, more for the yachting type). Not too many marinas along the way either come to think of it, it is mainly a residential stretch of waterway. From Sands south to Miami, there are a lot more marinas/waterfront hotels/restaurants but there are a few stretches of residential areas too. |
Jupiter pretty much summed it up. Ya got about 2 hours on the inside to pompano from peanut in addition to the 45 minutes he mentioned
|
Delray has community dock for overnighting just behind the Lady Atlantic.
Or just go to Deck 84 get drunk and pass out on your boat at their dock. We've stayed there till dawn a few times and nobody said anything... LOL |

Sailfish - booked
Sandharbor - booked Need a place in Lauderdale one in Miami. |
any ramps in Jupiter to leave the Truck and Trailers for the week?
|
A. You have to buy a sticker to park at those ramps (Burt Reynolds Park). $35 annual or $10 a day the ticket is like $50 but not sure if someone would ticket the truck daily.
B. Ramp on the east side (by the fire station) is much better lit and very visible to passing traffic on US1. West side is better for launching but it gets dark back there at night. |

Burt Reynolds park is the west side ramp with good launching but a little less safe at night The East side park by the fire station is better lit and visible to traffic (is that a good or bad thing?) And what is the name of the East side ramp? |

Correct....both sides are Burt Reynolds Park. Visible to traffic on US1 under good lighting would make someone more hesitant to bother the truck. West side is heavily treed, less lights and pitch black at night. East side looks like a mall parking lot at night. Google it and you will see exactly what I mean. You could reach out to Scott Henley, Henley marine to see if he has a spot to park your rig. He is the local Bahama Boatworks dealer and his shop is 100 yards from the boat ramp.

Just called them, they wont allow overnight parking longer then 24 hrs, even with annual pass. Ill try Scott Henley. Any other ramps or thoughts?
Call Jupiter Pointe Marina and see if they have a spot for your rig (huge new facility) or Blowing Rocks Marina next door (more of a low key, locals place). As a last resort you could check with Jupiter Hills Marina (just 500 yards further north than Jupiter Pointe/Blowing Rocks) but it is really a dormant place, I believe it is for sale/ owner trying to retire but it is gated and the low traffic might be beneficial to parking a truck/trailer. All 3 places will have room but the prices will be way different. |
NEED some suggestions on a place to stay in Miami.
JS - Thanks for all your help! We booked Loggerhead Marina for a launch ramp just outside Jupiter. |
The Standard Spa, Miami Beach - Miami Beach Boutique Spa Hotels | Hip Hotels in Miami Beach
Nice place. Not cheap. Decent docks, but it can get rough. Do a good job tying the boat bow out.. Welcome to Miami. $19 cheeseburgers... You can get over by the Fontainebleau as well... All the old school hotels there.. Eden Rock, etc. Or just do the typical and run to Miami Beach Marina, tie the boat there and hit any southbeach hotel like Clevelander... That'll put you on Southbeach. Yes, there are ATMs around. You'll need it. Coconut Grove is quieter. Tie up at Grove Harbour. |
