OT-Digital photo quality
Question on picture quality:
If I shoot a photo at 4.0 megapixel and then resize it to 800x600 for e-mail or posting will I notice any difference in what appears on the monitor than if I took the same photo but with a 2.0 megapixel camera and resized it to 800x600???
I know the printout difference will be significant, but am not certain about the monitor aspect.
Thanks
marc
While I'm at it..here are a couple of video captures from Cape Cod.

No matter where you start 800X600 is 800X600. If you are only going to look at the pictures on a monitor at 800X600 then there is no reason to take the pictures at any higher resolution ... except, if you are in the habit of cropping your pictures then you could end up with either a smaller picture(that would still be based on 800X600) or if you enlarge it to full screen it would be less than 800X600(not as clear).
If you ever plan to print the pictures, then you want as high a resolution as possible. I use a Canon 4MP S40 and normally take my non-business photos at very high resolution. You can always reduce it ... but you can't increase the resolution. Good luck
