OMG, be careful folks, let's pray he's going to be OK.

Had something real similar happen right here in my boating waters recently, except the prop scalped the man and killed him instantly with his two young sons on board.

Tragic. This scares the s**t out of me too. I hate people walking back there. I thought about opening my hatches halfway for something to hold on to. I put it in neutral far away from the docks, get all my stuff out and have the help sit on the back. Makes me want a bustle or swim platform even more.

Just goes to show ya don't have to be going fast to have bad things happen. I don't let anyone stand on the hatch when backing in.

Scary stuff and it happens quick. Neutral, put the lines on the cleats, then everybody back in the cockpit before going back into gear. The lines are long enough they can hold them in the cockpit and have plenty of slack.

It also makes it easier for the captain to see the corners when backing if someone is not sitting/standing there. Paint and rubrails can be fixed or replaced. |
Terrible to hear
