Amateur Shot of DS Crash with ejection Pic At End

No intention of trying to "garner attention". Just a pic of a "body" flying out of a boat.

You can't please everyone.

Wow! That blue cat turned around pretty quick.....that is balls!

WildThing47 04-29-2013 04:18 PM

Glad to see the amount of boats that turned around and gave their support!

I believe that was John Tomlinson and John Roth in Roth's Skater. We all know JT has some balls!

Yes it was, great sportsmanship.

I don't know that I would have used the term "body" on the title of the thread.
It seems like it was used to garner attention, but I could be wrong.

Possibly better:
occupant
passenger
water-walker

I tried to change it for you and it did save in the view section but title in the main gen section did not save properly.

Sydwayz 04-29-2013 06:16 PM

I said I could be wrong. I was listening to the news about 2 bodies they fished out of a local river the thought occurred that there were no "bodies" associated with this particular incident.

WorkCheck 04-29-2013 06:39 PM

WOW, so glad everyone is alive.

fabin61 04-29-2013 07:13 PM

Based on this video. Kind of puts the other thread in place about people not turning around. Looks like there was quite a bit of fast reaction from boats and heli's.

Scary scene. Glad to hear that both occupants were ok. I wonder what everyone was thinking that came up in the second pod of boats?

After watching the three boats come charging by the scene of the recovery at 2.42 I have to seriously wonder at the judgement exhibited.

That should have been an automatic no-wake.

TxHawk 04-29-2013 09:57 PM

Wow

Donziben 04-29-2013 10:57 PM

We all love to go fast, but he should have backed off the throttles a bit! He let his EGO get in the way of good judgement!

frickstyle 04-30-2013 07:21 AM

I have a question.

When this happens, why not agree to deploy a colored (red) smoke signal so that all oncoming traffic knows to slow, avoid, or stop and assist? I understand this may not be feasible to have on every boat, but it may just save a life if oncoming traffic were informed.

How would they know with no signal, smoke, or anything?

They were a following pod well behind to actually see the event happen, so it could have been a number of things. When they are coming up they are going pretty hard on the throttle. I am betting some didn't even register what they might have saw when going by untill after the fact.

Easy to arm chair when were not in the situation.

Absolutely, I am so glad to see everyone that was around it stopped to help. But yes, anyone a minute or two behind would have zero clue what was going on.

There were at least three helicopters circling and the incident was in the middle of what was the course.

Two seconds earlier and they would have been on top of the boat crossing the lake.

Making excuses for keeping the throttle open when they obviously should have slowed is the ultimate arm chair quarterbacking IMO.

It's not like it's a race!

Beatin a dead horse...

chewymalone 04-30-2013 10:34 AM

Not here to give opinions or do any armchair quarterbacking... only HUGE KUDOS to JT for getting out of the throttles that quickly and safely and rushing back to help another boater!!! Thanks for the video RAYLAR!

For me I am not going to bash those guys or say i would do it differently cause I wasn't there.

We can all be the "I would would have stopped guy" but if you were not in their boat or shoes at that time how do you know that? Do you think they saw the scene and the boat and purposely kept on trucking out disrespect? I don't think so.....I am betting the confusion caught their mind but it didn't click untill someone told them or said something.

I agree it's not a race but that topic has been beat to death when it comes to this and nothing has been done to change the event set up.

i've watched it a few times along with the other video...i have never run at those #'s and that close to another boat but the 41 kinda took a port side turn...not saying the 35 should have continued on at that speed but IMO he was pinched off kinda late to make "safe" adjustment. two EGO's in that situation...just my take on it:party-smiley-004:

I agree, if they were running speeds anywhere close to the first group, thier eyes were probably glued on what was in front of them.

I was told years ago by a very successful racer that the difference between an amateur and a pro is what they see and comprehend when at speed.:party-smiley-004:
