Cushion backing attachment for open bow???
 

So I just tore out all the rotten wood and faded vinyl from my open bow Powerplay... I will be installing all new vinyl, foam, and using 1/4-3/8 foamed pvc instead of wood.

Problem is... how to attach the seat backings how they were before. There is no way that I can reach under and through the storage to the bolt holes... its impossible. I tried, wife tried, even had the kid neighbor try. They obviously attached these before they dropped the top cap of the boat together.

My ideas for attaching is:

-3m Dual lock Velcro.. best idea I think..
-Snap buttons (like you use for our covers)
-Hook and loop (attach a rope to cushion and drop through the bolt hole down to the storage area and attach it somewhere in there)
-Christmas tree snaps... probably worst idea...

Will any of these hold when i'm going 75+ mph??

The heavy duty velcro will probably work. As long as nothing is sticking up into the airstream, I think you will find that a high pressure pocket will probably build up in the open bow area and most of the air will rush right over top of it. Maybe put some kind of foam inside the cushions to make them float just for good insurance. :)

Other option might be to have a canvas bow cover that you could snap over it for high speed runs.

You may also be able to find some kind of clips that you could install that you would just line up the holes and pop it into place with the heel of your hand. You might check with some body shops - a lot of the auto manufacturers use mounting systems like this.

3M Dual Lock. The stuff is extremely strong yet you can remove it when needed. My bolster and rear panels are held with this as well as my GPS.
On the backing of my uipholstery I put a couple staples through the dual lock as well. The adhesive is really strong though,.

Yeah I'm leaning towards the dual lock... my dad thinks I'm crazy for saying Velcro... but he just doesn't understand how strong this stuff is. I was just scared about it handling the speed.

Sunsation uses the 3m DuraLock stuff on their deck cushions over the mid-cabin. IF locked in correctly they will stay put at 70-80 mph but if they are not "locked in" the cushions will fly.....I had it happen.
