MTI Mishap Turns Into Opportunity For Pier 57 Customer
Most of you saw the thread of our misfortune of a 2008 40 MTI that fell off the trailer on a black ice highway December 2012 and ended up on it's deck in the grass. The boat tipped and rolled over onto it's deck so we did have some luck that it did not roll, tumble or skid down the highway. the worst damage was actually on transom from where we lifted to turn right side up.
The good news, no one was hurt and the boat did not have any structural damage. The new owner came in and viewed the boat as an opportunity to have a boat the way he wanted without the expense of ordering a new one as used 6 seater MTI's are tough to come across with stock Mercury power. His offer was subject to survey. Once it was determined there was not structural damage and only superficial, we started the resto and wound repair. The boat is a 2008 40 MTI with Mercury 700SCI's/SSM6 Drives and less than 40 hours. The customer is a big fan of Lambo Oarnge so we made a decision to paint the boat with all pearls, change the interior, etc.
Once we started project we de-rigged boat, took interior out, stripped components, removed drives, removed motors and started project. The boat then went to Wes @ MTI for design, Captain Nabbers for glass work, Mitcher T for paint, MTI for windsheild install and back to Pier 57 for rigging and resto.
I want to thank our staff for there commitment to have boat doen early on for this weekends poker run in Chattanooga, TN. We are on our way to water test now.
I also want to thank Captain Nabbers for his great glass work, Mitcher T for a great paint job and Wade @ MTI for getting us the new windsheild so quickly. Thank you
