Homemade Shift Cable Mount Bracket?

I am kinda in a pinch right and cannot get the acutal brackets for the shifter and my ignition in time for this weekend... So what I thought is I could just use a thin piece of aluminum and just cut it small and make the cut out holes that are required and use that for the time being... Would this work for now? Figure its easy fix for now...

What I'm trying to make...

I made some from some aluminum angle I had, polished them up & they worked & looked as good as any I could have bought. Go for it. Randy

You could also just screw the entire shift linkage bracket to the transom. Very simple and the engine looks cleaner.
