Can my 2000 7.3 f350 tow a 40 skater?

My truck has a 4 inch exhaust with a mild chip upgrade and a larger turbo fan. Tow hitch is a class 5 Reese Titan (14000 lbs. capacity), hitch ball 14000 lbs. capacity. Boat 1994 40 skater with a steel Myco trailer. Can my truck tow this boat? Was thinking of upgrading the brake pads to kevlar to give more stopping power. Maybe do another upgrade to boost hp of 7.3. Any thoughts? [LIST=1]

What's the weight of ur boat and trailer. I don't know how much mine weighs but would guess 13k and my 03 7.3 does fine in both pulling and stopping

you could also add a water/meth injection system, very helpful when towing will give you some extra HP 20-60+ depending on your existing tune, and also helps to keep your EGT's down, and can increase your mpg. If you live in a place with hills you will at least need an EGT gauge to have an idea of how hard the motor is working.

I don't think you're going to be legal, but I would bet it will tow it.

Technically I think I was overweight with my Cafe on an Aluminum trailer on my 2000 7.3 Dually.

Absolutely, I don't think you will have any problem at all just make sure the trailer brakes work good and you should be fine. I've heard of people towing big 40+ foot boats from Arizona to Florida with a 1500 Silverado.

I would add EOH brakes if the trailer didn't have them. They work really well, and can actually stop the load. I think that would be more important then upgrading the brake shoes to Kevlar.

a guy just dropped off a 38 Gun on an aluminum trailer from Miami, brought it up with a single wheel gas 2500 series Silverado

Drpete 3 do you have the same hitch and tow hitch ball that I have?

No one can answer that question till you weigh the rig.. Will it pull it? Of course it will. Will it be safe? Unknown. Is it legal? Unknown. Will it stop it? Unknown. Will an emergency lane chamge be safe, or hell even survivable? Unknown.... YMMV :). :)

Talked to Pete @ skater about weight of boat and trailer. He thought boat would weigh 10500 & steel trailer 4500.
