Looking at the classifieds...

I think some people are confusing the housing market and the boat market.

Homes going at, or over, asking price have given sellers confidence to shoot high.

I think boat sellers are suffering from a bit of subsequent delusions.

Am I missing something? Are you guys really paying these prices?

I hope they are (talking about boats). I've been thinking............

The difference between homes and boats are that banks aren't sitting on thousands of repossessed boats keeping prices up by keeping supply low!

I'm usually pretty negative when it comes to markets in the US, but I think the last 5 or so years of nothing new really being built or produced in this country has finally kind of balanced out the supply and demand.

I see used boat asking prices going up every day. They must be selling high since everything I call on is sold!

To me it seems like they have dropped quite a bit from a few years ago almost like a " correction " of sorts

I was out of the boat market for past 8 years. Last year got the boat fever and started looking and could not believe the low prices - couldn't pass it up!
The recreation market was hit very hard over the past 6 years - it has to turn around at some point - maybe this is it?

Maybe thats why you see boats that have been for sale for months and in a lot of cases, years. I think that sometimes it may be ego-driven as some people seem to think that because they own it, its worth more than others and to hell with what the market is so blatently screaming in their face......

I'm sure you'll all agree; something is only worth what someone is willing to give you for it. Boat sits = not worth it

I see a lot of wishful thinking.

Spot on.

. But some people are not in a rush to sell their boat. I've had mine for sale for years on and off. Is it over priced?...Probably, but I'm not in any rush & my family & I enjoy it. It's a lot of bang for the buck in my opinion.
. When a real buyer comes along they will make & offer what they feel it's worth to them.
Then I'll decide whether it's worth it to me to cut it loose for that price.
