38ft V bottom on the ocean

I'm looking at possibly picking up a 38ft v bottom and was wondering how well this would do running from Miami to key west. The boat is an Excalibur 38 that I plan on completely redoing and powering for reliability. I just want to make sure that its not to small to make a run like this.

I would think you are more than fine. I have seen low 30' boats tackle it just fine.

running on the outside depends on the wave height and running inside pretty calm but some shallow area's so stay in channel

Plenty....and heavy so it'll take a beating. Make sure u have plenty of extra water and a handhleld 2-way in case of trouble.

Also, around the islands.....it gets real sketchy. Some of the channels are cut through coral heads....and the locals mark them with milk jugs. Problem with milk jugs.....you can't see them when the sun is in front of you. I lost a prop on the way to hog heaven, and another on the way back to laurel eyes.....(island mirada)

I have a 40' Excalibur project I'd sell if you want a couple more feet.
