Does New York require a title for boat trailer?

Flying to New York Monday and inspecting an older skater and trailer. Does New York DMV require a title for the boat trailer? If the DMV does not require a title then I need to get a letter from the DMV saying they don't require a title for the boat trailer. Do any of you New Yorkers know? Thanks Poolshrk.

NYS requires a title on all trailers that are over 1000 lbs.

Boat has a steel trailer for a 40 skater. The has to be quite abit more than 1000 lbs. Thanks Poolshrk

Should have a title... You did say older though, somewhere back in 80's is a cut off when they only have regs... I think, it's been a while

When I registered my 2005 27ft enclosed trailer, the woman at the DMV said "i saved you $50 by not issuing a title", I got a transferable reg. Trailer is 7000lbs.

If the reg says transferable, thats all you need. It will say not transferable if there is a title.

Is this a 40 skater less motors on the island?..
