silent choice question?
when using silent choice in the on position (muffled) can you use this at any rpm level or only under a certain level ?
|
Please tell me that you are not having problems. Please, Please, Please. There really cant be a curse of Hot Boat.
|
You CAN NOT use this under any RPM. I believe that they recommend a max of 2000 RPM. I have Captain's Call, and they actually open automatically if the RPM gets too high (yes.....I forgot to turn them off).

Thats what I told them. But I wasnt sure. What can hapen if you run them closed ????
|
It depends on the engine- but usually it causes too much back pressure and too much heat in the combustion chamber. Tends to overheat everything. Stock low HP engines are not efected.

Im not going to take any shots here!
Thanks for the ride this weekend Ken ;-) |
Chris, that was a free shot, take it :D
I will tell you what happens to a blower motor that is run with the silent choice on.......Melted pistons!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This was a result in a system not put back together properly. Mine is run on air pressure and there was a leak. The mechanic that test drove the boat did not realize they closed till it was too late. The result..........Total rebuild, balance and blueprinted and head work. Now they run better than ever. |
Do they make a system for TRS drives, it looks like there is some type of internal exhaust pipe connection on the inner transom plate ??
|
Hot Boat...hate to say this, but I did have a problem with my trim gauge which I never had before...has my boat been cursed??
