Go pro video of high speed run
Took the boat out again today to try and get some gopro videos with the camera mounted on the transom. Videos came out good even at only 720p. I was by myself so was going to try and beat my high speed run of 98 mph I ran yesterday and hope to see triple digits. I didn't better my speed, but I do need more prop. On top of that I was able to watch my boost gauge and I think I'm going to have to go with a scoop. On first tip in the boost jumps to 6-6.5. Afternoon a couple seconds the boost drops to 5 and at one point it was at 4.5. I think the motor is sucking the engine room of all the air. It only has two nacaducts (spelling?) supplying air with no rear vents of any kind. I feel a reversed facing scoop with help to pull more air in and allow hot air to get out. I was going to test the theory by running with the hatch cracked open, but I was afraid of it catching air and ripping off.
Either way mid-upper 90's is very exciting for the first weekend out with new blower setup and wrong prop. Hope you guys like the video. Open to comments on cool camera locations. http://youtu.be/NW4SA30aStM |
One more thing. The boat is cleaned after every weekend, but the swim deck turns brown from the water color with in 20 minutes of running. The water is from the dry tail dumps. After hull cleaner its pure white, but then back to brown after minutes or running.

post a pic at idle. blower surge 4 life
|
I love the blower surge as well. I've had to learn how to shift on the low swings, but worth it for the great idle sound. It swings between 800-1400.

yes indeed! sounds good dude! i love when all the haters that cant drive say they hate blower surges b/c its not dock friendly but really they can't drive! lol
|
I love it and don't mind waiting for it to drop down to slide into gear.
|
That's cookin!! Great video! Randy
|
Blower surge= cool factor! I'll be there one day. But yes can be a pain to dock but might as well wait for the right time to drop it in gear. And perk up a few ears. Sounds great bud!

Ah, trying to wash the bridge. huh? Cool video. I was thinking it seems like he picks up just a little bit of porpus with it trimmed that high, why would he do that. then the bridge. Nice.
|
Lol. I wanted to see if I could get it wet. I know.....childish. :-)

Did anyone notice the intercooler dump in the corner of the boat? I have dumps on both sides and I think they look cool.
|
I did notice something dumping on the upper left of the video, was wondering what that was. Nice video too, what river are you on. Looked to small for that barge.
|
I have a dump on both sides of the boat for the intercooler dump water.
As for the water way, its the intercostal canal in port Allen/baton rouge. I think its a shipping lane for barges to go to Texas. So I've been told. I found it about a week or two ago and its been great. It's quite and has nice scenery. On top of that its 10 minutes from my driveway so I've been going in the afternoons for rides. Much better then 40 minutes away and just on the weekends. |
Other then the dirty color it looks like a nice place to get on it. I put in for a job in New Orleans, haven't heard anything yet but I can only imagine the endless waterways to boat on down there. Erie has plenty of boating but it can get nasty and its an hour and 45 mins from my driveway.

I read your post and might have commented on it when you were looking at a job here. It is a great place boating!! We are not limited to where you can go by boat. The only limit is your gas card. If I wanted to spend the money I could go from where we put in at the amite river/diversion canal and go all the way to Florida. I'm not doing it tomorrow, but its nice to have the option. As for fishing water it's unreal. I would love to have my velocity in the cobalt blue waters in the gulf that we fish in with the offshore boat. It makes my whole fishing trip if we make it to blue water when we go offshore. We usually fish 40-60 miles out and some times we hit it and others its just to far out.
You will love the boating if you move here. |
You can get creative with the go-pro locations, I've had mine under water numerous times for drive height and prop research. Suction cup works good, although I attach a safety line to it just in case!
Cool river vid! http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...ps06699e64.jpg |
I thought about trying that, but in this particular place the water is to dirty. I may try it this weekend when we go to the lake.
|
Didn't work super great on mine, my exhaust comes out and hits my steering ears on the extension box. Water sprays everywhere, and makes it tough to find a good place for the camera.
I also did a go-pro on a stick from the back seat. Feed your friend some beer and have him hold on tight, one hand on the boat, one on the camera stick! They don't make for the best video's, but you can gather some great information on what's going on back there. |
Love the video. I like your top speeds too and I am glad to see the boat is handling them well.
