silent choice question?
when using silent choice in the on position (muffled) can you use this at any rpm level or only under a certain level ?

You CAN NOT use this under any RPM. I believe that they recommend a max of 2000 RPM. I have Captain's Call, and they actually open automatically if the RPM gets too high (yes.....I forgot to turn them off).

It depends on the engine- but usually it causes too much back pressure and too much heat in the combustion chamber. Tends to overheat everything. Stock low HP engines are not efected.

I will tell you what happens to a blower motor that is run with the silent choice on.......Melted pistons!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This was a result in a system not put back together properly. Mine is run on air pressure and there was a leak. The mechanic that test drove the boat did not realize they closed till it was too late.
The result..........Total rebuild, balance and blueprinted and head work. Now they run better than ever.
