6 blade Herrings and Bravo XR's ?

Looking for some folks that have had success or experience with this setup. I have been breaking drives quite frequently and have been told that the low slip numbers achieved with these props are contributing to my issues. Has any one else had a similar experience. I am currently running them on a semi staggered 38 Fountain lightening with 575's and Teague chillers and a pulley reduction. I also have imco 2" shorties with 1:3.5 lowers turning 30p 6b herrings. Any input or experience with this setup would be greatly appreciated.

Had a customer with a similar problem on a new 35 Fountain with 525's. Kept throwing blades on Herring 6 blades and breaking Bravos. We added 1" drive spacers and switched to Maximus props. Only lost 1-2 MPH, planed a lot better and so far hasn't broken anything. Those aggressive drive heights are really tough on Bravos.

Bob,

Thanks that is great information and exactly the type of info that I am looking for. I have thrown two blades but they were both Bravo 1 4 blades that I lost a blade on. I could see how this would be related to the drive height as well. Thanks again for the info.

No Bravo ever like being used as a surface drive, At high drive heights they Load/Unload too much (just going through regular wind chop) and the Torsion effect on those (relatively small) single vertical shaft drives is too much. Even compounded more with 6 blade props where blade area is high.

Well best I can figure for slip is around 9-11% But I am no expert on the subject. Just run 5300rpm apx at around 100-103 depending on temp and humidty. Does this help you in any way?First Gun

Yes, tells me where the edge is most likely when running high x dim bravos :) thank you
