I can't believe that many people just sit at the ramp for that long! Get a life!!
|
I liked the pontoon boat with the charcoal weber grill on it. Screams safety.

That's site 6 in Havasu. A free launch ramp that is pretty tricky for a few reasons -
A) the ramp is short so if you have anything over a 30' boat the trailer tends to fall off the end of the ramp B) the ramp is pretty steep and VERY slick. C) All the drunks use it. D) Many amateurs use it. Over the years the crowds that gather to watch this have gotten larger and larger. There's two sides of an on-going debate, one side being that there's those that go there just to heckle the boaters and are d!cks and the other side that it's free entertainment and many will help people who are having a lot of difficulty getting their boat out of the water. I've launched a couple Cigs and other bigger boats from that ramp...It takes some know-how. |
I launched there a few years ago. Twenty eight batboat with Sport Chassis with supersingle rear tires. That ramp sucked and so do the supersingle rear tires. Would move about five inches then just spin. Took forever to get out of the ramp but luckily it was before the crowd thing :D

For those that think that is a steep ramp have never been to a mid west lake like Cumberland. Most mid west lakes when you are backing down when you fist start down you can't see the ramp, just the tops of trees.
|
All the people wishing they had a boat!!
|
The 5-wide ramp at our local marina will attract a few folks with lawn chairs to camp out and watch the action. Usually it is just spouses cussing each other out. My wife and I were the entertainment about 11 years ago when she decided to park the boat damn near in the back of the Tahoe. Those bow stanchions fold over like pretzels when you hit them off-center, wheel cranked hard over, and 3/4 throttle. Gave new meaning to the term "power loading"!!

Havasu is a blast, but that's a good way to drive away anyone from wanting to go. People do realize that it's the tourism that keeps that town alive and them employed
Not to mention that I would loose my mind if I ever was the victim of that. The boat ramp is stressful enough and to add that would be unsafe |
They wouldn't like me very much. Go out a lot by myself. Used to doing it alone to the point that if someone goes with me they may hold a dock line or something but that's about all.
It was funny when I used to use a public ramp the things I would hear. Pull up to the ramp in the boat 15 minutes after some other guy with his family/friends did. Tie up the boat, go get the truck and trailer and back it down the ramp, have the boat on the trailer and be on the way out hearing a wife or girlfriend saying, why is it taking ___ so long?? |
A friend of mine had this saying when we were out on trips. "I wonder what all the poor people are doing right now". Well this video proves that they are drinking Milwaukees best sitting on the shore heckling
|
Funny video
|
Jeez, it's one thing to sit around and enjoy the show and mind your own business. That looks like a bunch of *******s sitting around being *******s.

Bunch of non-boating bank trash right there. |

Bunch of non-boating bank trash right there. RE: Lake Cumberland - I avoid launching at State Dock or Jamestown. It is definitely worth the drive to keep going down 127 to the new ramp next to the dam. Much wider and more user-friendly. Parking is much better than Jamestown too. However, make sure you have your spare chained and locked to your trailer. Some scum bag stole mine one weekend when I was down there - mount and all. |
Oh man this would piss me off. I would learn how to launch and load fast. I can't stand stupidiness. Especially from a bunch of hammard morons. I feel bad for those who "have" to go there.
|
I will say there were a lot of idiots there loading boats.....who in the hell backs the trailer so far in that the boat is able to over run the trailer and bash into the tailgate of the truck :lolhit: .....just stupid
and the people taking 15-20 minutes to load out.....morons get out of the way already.....boat on trailer, attach front strap or chain (probably should have both IMO with one as a safety) and drive the hell out of there......don't unload coolers and other crap or rearrange the entire contents of your truck.....get the hell out of the way and do that crap at the top of the ramp......and even worse is people in boats that are being pulled by a car or truck struggling to get up the ramp......get out of the boat you fat assed idiots you are 100% dead weight and even in the front of the boat putting tongue weight on you are going to do little for traction VS the additional weight you are adding to be pulled up as for the trash on the sides what a massive pack of losers.....I can see laughing at the idiots that run the boat up the trailer and into the back of their truck if you are there loading out yourself or if you are at a restaurant next door eating and drinking, but getting up off of your futon or pappasan chair and hitting the clicker to turn off the springer reruns and heading to the dock to sit there like an ass......what a pack of total losers and shore trash |
that ramp doesn't have much of a slope to it, doesn't seem steep to me
