Here's another thing to consider:

The cat is tucked in cruising comfortable at 85mph, the vee is trimmed to the moon strung out at 85mph, that has to make a difference.

So now you are talking straight-bottom V-bottom, because that's not how you run a step bottom in the rough. Maybe that's how you run a V-bottom PWC, but not an offshore. That's why longer boats typically do better in rough water, because you use the hull to cut through the water and absorb the impacts. Nevermind your kidneys.

And running the Cat tucked-in? What's going to keep the nose up from stuffing?

We are getting further and further off-track; and I'm not even sure we had one to begin with. Is this topic to settle a bet or something; or assist in a boat purchase for someone?

This conversation reminds me of my buddy in HS who had the same car I did. Mine was a 305 4-barrel, and his was a 4.3L with fuel-injection; and he was trying to find a scenario where his car could be faster.

So buy a redone 36 or 41 Apache; and roll some old-school class.

my buddy in HS that had the same car as me ( he had 88 TransAm 350 tpi , I had 89 TransAM 305 tpi both black he had T-tops.) we fought all the time about which would be faster. he has more hp but more weight (structure was stronger for T-tops) and the gear ratio in the 350 was higher to bring rpm down a little. we raced probably hundreds of times, mine won every time in short distance races (1/4 mile). he won every time we hit the highway. on the highway from a dead stop I would get him off the line then he would pass me and I could draft him and stay right on his bumper but never get around him. when he would be behind me at high speed he could go around me. what this has to do with a 32cat versus a 38 v? im not sure. maybe that faster is a relative word that can mean different things.

I've got a nice 42 glass boat that can be bought for damn near the 38 TG price!

Nobody mentioned fountains, but I know you guys get nervous when rough water is mentioned. Nobody made you read this thread, so if you don't like it simply pass over it.

Hope this wasn't towards me? I wasn't trying to be a d***! Was a bad joke I guess. And actually my boat handles very nicely in the rough stuff. In fact, my boat ran the fastest it ever has in a nice 3-4' with occasional 5' on way to "put in bay". Not saying its better than any other boat but seems good to me.
