You should be able to get a good view between the north side of navy pier and Montrose.

No Blue Angels. That is the only reason to go"

diverkr 07-29-2013 10:41 PM

Military aircraft are not funded for flyovers or air shows this year.

So I'm guessing a little chine at 70 don't bother you at all....

diverkr 07-31-2013 08:13 AM

It's a great job! I actually grew up in the Chicago suburbs. We would watch the air show from our boat every year.

North Ave Beach is basically center stage for the show. The "quarantine zone" is usually from the entrance of Diversey Harbor up to the playpen on the north side of Navy Pier. Anywhere along there you will have a great seat assuming you get there early enough to get a seat!!! If it were me I would try and sit somewhere between Diversey harbor entrance and Fullerton Ave....you are not on the North Beach area where everyone wants to be because they have swimming access on the beach....its a nice grassy area and if you want to be closer tot he water there is an great break wall to sit on as well.

If you fly the Blue Angels out of Pensacola I've seen you many times there. You guys put on a great show and the museum there is awesome.

SnailblazerSS 07-31-2013 01:34 PM

Even without jets, it's a nice change of pace for some entertainment on the water. Friday they do the practice run of the show, which essentially IS the show and there are far fewer boats and morons to deal with in the general vicinity.

Im planning to be out on Friday and Saturday for the show this year.
