The Resurgence of TOPPS Lake Conroe

It appears that TOPPS Lake Conroe is starting to come back around after a few down years...

At one time, this was of the most over-the-top poker runs out there. Glad to see it coming back.

Was a great run, all we need is another three feet of water and you would see 50 plus boats like the old days...

not saying this in a bad way but since the Flash Gorden incident, Texas poker runs & fun runs have gone down hill, Also very low lake levels for the past 5 years have not help either,

What does Flash Gordon have to do with Texas???

Sir, were you not at the TX Outlaw Challenge. Outlaw just keeps getting bigger. Been on site on just a few years but TX is badass when it comes to this Poker Run. It is becoming one not to miss!!! Flash Gorden?? Texoma??

Yes the outlaw challenge has grown huge but think about what else takes place during the boating year in Texas. There use to be a poker run every other weekend in Texas before the incident on Texoma. Insurance issues for some of the organizers hampered runs plus the Corp of Engineers would not allow Poker runs afterwards but the way to get around that was to call them fun runs but a lot of red tape to go thru just to make them happen.

Lake Texoma has not had a poker run / fun run in 2 or 3 years and DFW has not anything in about 4 years sir. Houston area and the Gulf stills has a sport boat community. DFW is dead in that area - its a huge wakeboard and pontoon boat area. Been in the boat business for 24 years I know whats going on in the area.. Did 'nt Tom with the 40 ft Baja run Topps or was it another organization in Houston area ?

here was the list of what took place around the area around 5 to 10 years ago.

Cedar Creek 2 or 3 PR a year
PK 1 or 2 PR a year
Eagle MTN 3 to 4 PR a year
Lewisville 1 or 2 PR a year
Granbury 1 PR a year
Joe Pool 1 or 2 PR a year
Lake Texoma 2 to 3 PR a year
Ray Hubbard 2 PR a year

Currently in the past 3 to 4 years how many of these still exist ??? Good Luck with your PR and hopefully it grows. Also how much do want for your AT 32 ?

Tom along with myself and one other started Lake Conroe Powerboat Club in 2010. It started out great that year and for half of 2011, then the drought hit and had to cancel the runs in the summer of 11. Had planned to continue in 2012 but lake was still low and started to lose interest so decided to drop it last year. I had previously held the Baja Bash event on Conroe for 6 years with the biggest year being 70+ Bajas in 2007 along with Baja's Lucky 7. It was stopped and LCPC started to include all boats. Hopefully TOPPS will continue to grow back to what it was years ago.
