Out drive question

Hey guys im starting to look into changing my prot side out drive to a counter rotating set up. any info on how/where to look to do this would be great! from what i hear it will help the displacement of the water and help get a few mph outta it correct? like i said anyinfo lemme know thanks!

I believe that for alpha drives you have to change the lower unit to a counter rotating unit. So keep you eyes and ears open!

SEI has it.

is this just a general warning that your props wont work or is there something else you have to get? or is it buy then bolt on?

I think it's a general warning so guy with single doesn't purchase it not knowing what he's doing. Should bolt right up to the upper and swap the shift cable. Wala cr alpha. Haven't done mine yet but it will happen before I put it back in water

What do you mean swapp the shift cable? sry new to the counter rotation thing and i just replaced my lower shift cable so am i changing it or moving it? just trying to gauge the difficulty of the job is all Thanks for the info!

No. I haven't done it but I believe it has to be swapped at the controls. Don't quote me on that. Read it somewhere and can't be sure.

From everything I've read very simple

Last post explains it a little bit.

Thats a good summary...the counter rotating unit runs in reverse...so you switch the cable to the other end of throw inside shifter unit...so appears you are in forward position while drive running in reverse. Unstacking and restacking the shifter takes some patience and grease to hold the detent balls in place (Kiekhaefer).
When taking drive off and on you shift into reverse instead of forward.

Biggest change I noticed is no more torque steer on deceleration- my boat would move about 6' (right?) when coming off throttles at speed....
