Default lightening shield via fiberglass antenna

Anyone constructed a "faraday cage"on their boat using heavy wire running down their fiberglass antenna to a solid ground on their engine/drive??

Seriously thinking of constructing one that would run from a metal spike cap placed ontop of the tall, heavy duty fiberglass antenna, during thunderstorms at anchor.

This would tend to bleed off an electrical charge buildup in the air around the boat, and avoid the strike in the first place.

Seems fairly easy to make. Anyone built one?

Good thought however I was told that they do not work. Maybe some one else has info on this. I have been on sailboats before and looked up to see all the rigging glowing. Thank god there was never a hit!!!!
