Southbay makes great Pontoon's also. My dad has a 27 with a Yamaha 250 SHO. Triple toon and 4 stroke engines are where its at. They ride great, up to a point. In a chop they'll ride better than the same size V bottom until it gets to the point where the waves are breaking over the front of the boat, then you're kind of phucked. We spend a lot of time on a big, shallow lake that gets nasty and we've pissed off a few 25 -27' Baja's when we beat them across. :D Don't dismiss getting bigger power (225+ hp). No downside and its very nice to be able to get up and cruise 30 - 40mph when the situation calls for it.

The Pontoon boat is NOT a "planning" hull and runs through the water, whereas the Deck boat is a "planning" hull and runs on top. The ride of a pontoon is much better (but much slower) and has the benefit of 2 tubes (like cat sponsons) so it is stable…. the Hurricane is a typical fiberglass vee and runs on top bouncing from wave to wave…pontoons have come a long way in terms of style and accommodations, but its still not performance oriented…. and if you seek the best, go with a Bennington. From what you described, you only need a pontoon, not a triple tube.
