Doesn't 177 qualify as any color lightning you want?

I like turbine colored.

Yeah, it was simple word play. Sorry if you felt misled.

I have not heard of the "infamous" White Lightning (beyond the homemade booze of course), but that doesn't surprise me. There a lot of things I haven't heard of. So please, fill me in.

Anyway, again, sorry if you felt misled. From my end as a headline writer: 1. The boat was fast. 2. The boat was white. 3. The boat went fast during the 2012 Lake of the Ozarks Shootout. Hence the headline. (Of course, I could have called it, "The White Boat Went Fast the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout," but that's a pretty weak headline.)

Cheers.

What was record setting about 177 mph?

Matt Trulio 08-19-2013 10:19 AM

For its class

NPCP42

NP = nonprofessional
C = catamaran
P = power added (turbo charger, super charger, etc.)
42 = hull length from 36' to 42' feet

There a bunch of class designations for the Shootout.

Ok, that's what I thought.

No need for an apology, sorry if my post came off as rude. Great thread with an awesome photo as usual.

This is not the record for the class

Chip Romer = 191 mph same 388 Hull, same class

NOBODY 08-21-2013 11:27 PM

Dennis Pool won that class at 177 just as Matt said. Romer won that class in 2011 at 191.

Correction noted, much appreciated and now reflected in the text. I should have cross checked the information I was given. Apologies for any confusion created.
