Mercury Racing Releases New 520 Engine
Just in, a new engine offering from Mercury Racing engines, http://speedonthewater.com/new-boats...new-520-engine

Mercury must be planning to phase out the 525 otherwise makes no sense to me.....Why spend $11k more for 525 that has 5 more HP and 1 year less warranty....Also interesting that Mercury gets 520 HP on cheap, restrictive exhaust system. Wonder what this engine would produce with decent exhaust? Seems like Mercury has killed the 525 with this release.

I think 525's make more than 525 hp. I could see it going away though. With this 520, and the 565.

Well at least they are trying, I wonder why they didn't just go with a 540ci & use "off the shelf" parts so the cost could be less. At least they won't have issues with cracking headers but for the price could have polished the risers. The 2 year warranty is a plus. Randy

The engine cover on it atleast in the picture looks cheapy....

At least there is no catalytic exhaust!

I have never bought a new motor, is there a difference in MSRP, and what you could expect to pay?

Anyone think they will build a N/A motor based on 1350 long block platform?
Why keep building pushrod based when they have the OHC technology working? |

Obviously not the exact specs. I just meant get away from the 5XXci BBC base and use they technology of the OHC engine with N/A specs.
