My guess is that he'll beat it himself next year... I read that it was still pulling hard going through the gate. If it was still making power at the end of a mile, it's just a matter of getting the hooked up sooner.
Great Pass! |

Where is phenomenon?? They could make a run at it if they can ever keep all 4 turbines running.. Haven't heard anything on it in a while!
|
I always find it so...odd, I guess is the correct word, that you lose so much sensation of speed from video. I've been on the water looking at these runs in person (obviously not a 224 mph run, but a 209 run) and it is absolutely jaw dropping. Crazy speed. Thing was dialed in!!

This is a link to the video of his crash last year after hitting a big wake, If you don't know it's a 50 foot boat, you might think it's a toy RC one, so no big deal. But it must have been a terrifying ride. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LhuQLZs3PA0 Putting it on the trailer after with a good shot of the damage http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OOGI5aA_n5Y |

i would think you'd have to have a video that does not follow the boat and is close to the same level as the boat...say down the cliff 10' or so off the water and then maybe one that does follow it as it passes...I did see the 209 run from pretty close to the radar location as a spectator...that was hauling the mail...224 has got to be as you said jaw dropping to see in person!!

Aqua-Mania / G3.....but thiknk they are more focused on circuit racing. Believe new boat is in the works for them
|
You never get the same sensation over video as you do in person... especially from inside the boat or car compared to experiencing it in person. It's not even close.
I would be chitting bricks running over 200mph on water. Granted flat water isn't nearly as scary, but that's still insane running those speeds on a dynamic surface in a hull design that's known to violently flip at high speeds! That takes balls of steel... |
I REALLY wanted to see Recycler III run over 200! With twin V-16s and running over 3400HP per side, it was possible. Just didn't get her dialed in I guess. First run sounded pretty bad with a loud POP near the end of the run!
|
I agree Tank. I dont think a video of my way doing 80 would look any different. The true challenge would be to keep the camera stationary and then trying to take a picture of it. I guess we will leave that one to Jayboat.
