New Jersey Radar Shootout On The Table for 2014

I think that is great news. My father and I used to go to the radar shoot-out when it was held in the early 1990's (I cannot remember the exact years). It was so long ago the fastest boat one year was a catamaran called "Finish Line" which radared at 129 mph, which was very fast then but it seems rather slow when compared to recent pass by "My Way" at LOTO. I used to enjoy the races held in Barnegat Bay too, fond memories.

I attached a picture of my father during the actual radar pass at one of the Barnegat Bay radar shoot-outs, this pass registered 81 mph, that was one tough radar which humbled many performance boat owners that day. The picture is rather faded, but that day is still fresh in my memory because it really a fun day on the water. This event was before Offshore Only and all of the other internet sites where you get information on who may be out on the water and how fast the boat(s) may go, so being from South Jersey it was always exciting to see all the other hot-rods that were out there, and not knowing until you rolled up along side of another boat giving them a shot (racing them). We raced the boats that radared at 84-85 mph, you never know unless you try...you gotta try...why else have a performance boat...

Thank you Dave Patnaude, this is good news, and the race in Atlantic City this year was a nice event (I went to that), you are doing good work in New Jersey!

Good News...

Awesome, I hope this goes through. Does NJPPC have a facebook page to stay updated?

That is great news...I've been hoping for the return of this event for years now.

I remember that boat. Where on BB did your dad live? I grew up in Chadwick Beach Island, home of Jolly Roger(Magnum), Rated X(Magnum, Cigarette), Wild Turkey(Cigarette), Commotion(Magnum).

That's great news I remember them days on the early 90's also . He'll I'm so old I remember when 70 - 80 was flying back then like Smarty posted . Even tho we ran slower in the 80's & 90's it sure seemed like there were a hell of a lot more performance boats back then . I remember leaving the dock and heading down the jersey shore twenty miles up the Hudson on weekends & there were always somebody out looking to drag a few miles . These days not so much , I sure do miss them days . Sure was a lot of fun back then

We are (were my father passed away in 2008) from Pitman (Gloucester County), back in the 1980's and 1990 we did the majority of our boating out of the Egg Harbor River, go out in the ocean through the Long Port inlet, and then then wait in the ocean by Jackson Avenue, Margate (at the Lucy the Elephant) and look for people race or we would sometimes go out on the Delaware River or upper Chesapeake, but we did always manage to trailer up the East Dover Marine and put in there for the radar shoot-out or Barnegat Bay race. Used to spend summers in Brigintine as a child and teenager for a couple of weeks each summer.

I remember all the boats you mentioned and I like them all, Rated X and Wild Turkey are two of my favorites. I do not have a picture of Rated X. I took the picture many years ago of Jolly Roger at East Cover Marina.
