Combatting spiders in storage unit

My storage facility has a bad spider problem. I just moved units and it is brand new, I sprayed some home defense everywhere and in two weeks there is already webs going everywhere. Luckily they are not getting in the boat just everywhere else!! It's not fun walking in and going through web after web. Anyone have any suggestions.

Put some glue boards all over your unit, or around the webs. Youll see what kind of spider problem you have on your next trip back. Nothing touches those and lives to tell.Good Luck

'Viper' or if you can find it - 'Ficum W'

tell ya what works on my boat. I put Downey dryer sheets everywhere, inside anything i could find to hide them and the spiders were gone . . . and i mean gone. Not a one inside the boat, maybe an odd one on a line now and then but they vacated the boat pretty much completely.

Tomcat glue boards from Menards as mentioned above. I use them in my basement at home and I am amazed what is there that I never see

Find a local company that will spray. It is cheap and it will work.

bobbowobbo 09-10-2013 07:27 PM

I buy a big box of bounce dryer sheets every year from sams club.. like Dave said put them everywhere, no more mice either!!

Wobble 09-10-2013 08:13 PM

no first hand experience yet. however i was told that the automated mosquito fogging systems that use pyrethrum spray completely removed the spiders from around my buddies lake Conroe house. I have the system on my new house but have not used it yet as I havnt got round buying the drum and the pump/timer for it. Will add it to my shop if it works.

Something like this might work for a storage unit http://www.horse.com/item/country-ve...FTRo7AodbwMAqw

Extract?? Also same as above where can I find it.

I don't think just putting glue boards down will help, these suckers get everywhere. Having someone come spray will be tough due to my schedule. Keep the suggestions coming!

Place hedgehogs around your storage unit. Sounds crazy, but they repell spiders. I scatter them in my barn and have zero spider problems,

I thought I was the only one that used dryer sheets. Has worked for years-boat smells fresh too.

I think Demon is a slightly reduced form of Ficum W.

How do you use it? Just spray it on the docks and surrounding areas?

Doug 11-12-2013 06:22 AM

I have always gone to Lowe's and picked up a gallon of Ortho Home Defence and sprayed it in all the corners and cracks especially if there are any in the floor. I'm pretty sure they have to walk though it. I see spiders dead about 6" from where I have sprayed. I even do the house and spray up under the siding outside. Works great for me. Dryer sheets work good and the hedge apples smashed around the outside work.

Mix in a sprayer. 1.5oz per gallon of water. I bump mine up to 2oz per gallon. Sprays on clear and odorless. All my neighbors use it and were shocked at how well it works. I buy mine through amazon.
I pressure wash my dock, roofline, poles, etc real good. Let it dry completely and then apply the Suspend SC. I'm telling you, it will last all season unless you pressure wash again.
I've started using it around the outside of my house as well. Same results, no more spiders.

I have a pontoon that sits in the water all season. This year I soaked it with the Suspend SC and it lasted about 3 months. I'm assuming the rain and elements broke down chemicals.

Demand CS does a number on them as well. Its a neurological chemical and they start dropping like a cheap haunted house.
