Great day out for sure. My 6 year old has been boating with us since she was born and loves every minute of it.

enjoy the times its goes fast they grow up fast but the good news is now I have a grandson to fill my day

Orange, I know the feeling. Bought my boat when my daughter was a year old. She has been on it her whole life, at 7 or 8 she was handling lines to the amazement of other boaters. Now she is 13 and still has a passion for power boating, her newest request is to do a poker run. A couple of weeks ago we were leaving a dock, I jumped behind the helm and had her undo the lines while a whole dock full of people watched and smiled, made Dad very proud!

Yes I am a lucky man. We might take a poker run in the next couple of years (under 80 mph class) . I was on my first one this summer and I think the girls are gonna flip when they see a helicopter flying next to them taking pictures. There really good kids too, good at school, active in sports, polite to other people. Im glad there are a lot of other boaters on this site with just as much appreciation for their kids too.

Great thread!!! We might not recognize it at times, but everything we do with are kids is a story they will share with there's !! I remember as young kid living in Parker Az on the river watching the then crazy expensive boats rip up and down and wishing we had a boat. My dad came home with the SS minnow one day, told me to walk outside and see what he got us, when I saw what was hooked to the truck I felt like the luckiest kid on the planet, wasn't the nicest boat but it was ours and the memories we have from it are priceless!!

Being on the water is being on the water. For the majority of my childhood my dad had an early 70's tri-sonic. Loved every minute on that thing, it's definitely the boat that got the bug in me.

congrats! Don't be surprised if when they hit 16 or so they don't want to go as much. Not to rain on your parade lol. I'm 26 now and love boating my parents were boating when my mom was pregnant with me. I was 7 months old when I went out on a boat for the first time, thats only because we live in Michigan at the time. I love growing up on boats you get spoiled though lol. I'm very lucky and at my young age I have drove over 30 different High performance boats! When I was younger and didn't drink everyone fought over whos boat I was going to drive at the end of the day. Great to hear people still bringing there kids with them. You don't see that as much as when I was a kid and if we don't have the young kids growing up to love the sport then it will end up not existing in the future. I know this was long windy but congrats on raising your girls to love the sport!

I couldn't agree more. My girlfriend was my main dock line, bumper, and anchor handler the past couple years and my 12 year old son was content to let her do it. When we split up in the middle of July this year it was his time to step up and he did. About the only thing I don't let him do is the anchor because I'm not quite sure I'm ready for it to be dropped on the deck of my 42 Fountain. I'm getting pretty good at pulling into a crowded bay and getting both anchors out by myself though. Nothing in the world like boating with your kids!

That is similar to the one we had.... Your right, being on it was no differant of a feeling than the guy in his half a million dollar boat! I've learned that no matter what it is, or how expensive it is, eventually they all end up in a heap pile! Its all about enjoying what you have while you have it !!
