A request to the Mods/ OSO/ IB.
In the past several years, there has been too many catastrophic incident with results that many of our Performance boaters, friends and family past on to better seas.
While we all remember and extend our grief, there is this banner on the top of OSO page with old boats flashing back and forth. Some of the departed I knew personally, some I met at events, and some I only knew as icons of our sport. I humbly request the Mods/site designers/managers to change the old and pretty boring boat pictures that are changing in the banner and update it to the boats that will no longer be part of our sport that we love. WE all know who they are and I leave it to the Mods to select the pictures form the tons that are out there. While these boaters and some of their boats are no longer with us, I think it would be a nice way that they Spirit can be seen on the daily bases. If any other OSO members agree or have any input, please do so. I would like to see the banner boat changed to a "dedicated in memory of.." boat show. Let their passion keep with us. Thank you Peter, AKA Paradox |
Got my vote. Avid supporters getting a little afterlife reciprocation.
Classy move if they do it. |
I vote YES !!!! Make it happen !!!!!!
|
I could care less either way but I don't see IB doing it for the simple fact it would change the tone of the website which is something they would not want. Powerboating is supposed to be fun/exciting and the idea proposed takes away from that. I am not against it but just wanted to point it the reason it probably won't happen.
Would you go to Harley Davidson .com if they just had pictures of deceased riders? How would Budweiser .com look if they had pics of DUI victims? How about Las Vegas .com with pictures of everyone that lost their life savings? I |
I don't think it would change the atmosphere at all. I say classy move as well. It may serve as a reminder that life isn't a given appreciate it every day and be safe!!

I think the thought is nice, but agree it's probably not a good idea to post that at the top. There might be a better place to honor those that have passed. I do agree that the rotating boats should be changed frequently...gotta keep it fresh.
|
My thoughts are if You are "Bored" with the advertisements on the boating forum You spend too much time on the forum and not enough time boating.
|
I woul spend more time boating if somebody would get around to fixing my boat............ :party-smiley-004:

Geez Nort, do you think you're Obama or something?
|
I really like the thought Peter. I am trying to think of an idea that would work besides the one you suggest.
We all know we come here to escape for few(or bunch of) minutes. I am not sure that looking at pics of the departed will help the escapism or winter boredom. However, We(meaning corp) have been looking to update the rotating pics. I would think that while that is being installed maybe we can add another area of the type you suggest. I will follow up with the higher-ups. |
Is this for real? Deceased members boats on a banner? Morbid if you ask me. I can't think of a worse idea...sorry, just my opinion.
|
I see a problem regarding who would be displayed regardless of where it is displayed.
|
You could post pictures of Obama, then the site would really go down

In several other forums I am on, they have a "Shall not grow old" section where tributes and memorials are. I think this would be a good idea.
