Our new custom-made Sunbrella bimini and enclosure is finally completed for our Active Thunder. We like to do a lot of overnights, and this was a must for our new boat!
Thanks to Beth, Dennis and crew at Lakeside Upholstery and Canvas in Muskegon, MI for the great attention to detail, and putting up with the changes, as well as Great Lakes Marina for keeping the boat there while this project was completed.
Also many thanks to Dave and Barb (Crazyhorse) for recommending them! I would do so as well to anyone looking for great custom work! It's not easy to make these look decent on a performance boat, and IMHO they did a great job.
I know we'll enjoy the boat even more than before with this addition! :D

Jafo, that look's great! I need to get one of those.
May I ask how much it was? You can PM me if you like.

Hope to see you Sat. Hey if we get one of those afternoon thunderstorms maybe we can trade boats.:D

Hey Jafo, did they say how fast you can go with that top up???

jafo 08-06-2002 10:26 AM

Thanks for the compliments guys!

Payton- check your PM

Wally- we had just the bimini up on Saturday out on the Misssisippi River running around 45 with no problems. All of the zip-in sides, front and rear have velcro fold-overs over the zippers, and the stainless tubing is larger dia. than we had on the old Formula, so I think it would all hold up well to the same speed if necessary.
We don't really intend to run with any of it up if at all possible unless caught in bad weather- it's more for keeping the bugs out and dew off the interior at the marina or sandbar while overnighting. There are zippable screens in the sides as well for ventilation.
She is making a duffel bag out of the same material to stow the side, front and rear curtains once rolled up, and the bimini has a nice boot to cover it when up or down.

Hope to see you guys Saturday!
Jim

jafo, reason i'm asking is that when Karl had his made for the 380 Powerquest the guy said he can run it at full speed without problems! I thought that was crazy but the guy was convinced that it would hold up. I dont think Karl has taken it up to 80+ yet but i know for a fact it will hold up at 65mph! :D Just curious if the guy who did yours gave any limits to it is all.

Does look good! Covers like that on a spped boat are growing on me more and more! Its just so nice to be able to throw it up when bad weather strikes and get out of the elements! :D :D
