27 Fountain

I am looking at some boats. How is the ride on a 27 Fountain. And how do they handle if you put power to them.

They ride good for a 27'. I used to have one. My buddy has probably the cleanest 2000 27' Fountain available, listed in the OSO classifieds. You're pretty far away from Ky for boat shopping, but if you've got your mind set on a 27' Fever - I'd bet you won't be disappointed in the condition of his boat.

good boats.big power and handling should not be a problem.i have owned one for about 6yrs.ride is good and can hold there own in 3-4 ft waves.

I agree with the others. I often run with JimV in his 27'. It rides surprisingly well for its size in rougher water.
They respond pretty good to additional power. His is probably one of the fastest 27's around.

awesome boats . they were in my top 5 before i got my AT

I beg to differ with the other posters. It is a nice boat and put together well but the ride is TERRIBLE in anything over 2's. I sold mine this spring because I was sick of getting killed in rough water. It was a great boat for inland lakes and rivers, but not for the great lakes/ocean. As far as handling it handles well up to about 60 and then has a tendency to chine walk up to 70.

It rides like any other 24' boat, which is great if you like inland lakes , anything else hope you like your kidneys.
Theres no replacement for lenght

4's? Really? My 33' PowerPlay got bounced around pretty good in 4's.

I agree and I didn't mean the 3-4's others were talking about. The 27' that I am accustomed to riding in has a 12" ext box and 380 K-Planes.
Shoot, I'm not a fan of 3-4's on my 30' boat.

And as mentioned above it can be a handful around 70mph and you need to know how to drive through it. The boat becomes more stable at 80-95mph.

Not sure if a 27 fever is the way to go. They sure do like to dance.. that is just my thoughts but,I have had many hours at the helm of 27's and 29's love both boats! I would feel more safe on a 29' at the speeds your wanting. Both great boats in some good choppy conditions as for big rollers lets face the facts they will not span the gap you will get wet period. Great for smaller water or calm days in the big water.

Go to a 29', so much more boat.
