Boat Jack Stands? Will These Work?
 

Im trying to take my Boat off the trailer so I can buff the bottom. These are 18 wheeler trailer jacks that a buddy gave me,I think they will support the weight.
I figure I will have to make the base wider/bigger as to not tip. Also Im sure Ill have to make the round pad rectangle and not piviotable.

I think if I lift the back about 4-6 inch's it will clear the trailer? I have a separate jack Ill use on the rear.

I haven't figured how to lift the front or a jack stand for the front,My warehouse has a roof beam that's pretty big, not sure if it will hold the weight? It is a long span.

I have a bunch of stuff I could make a stand for the front pretty easy.I have steel and a buddy that welds.

I guess I could hire a wrecker to lift the front?

What do you all think? What do you suggest or recommend on what to do.

I do not want to buy the yardarm stands.

I would really appreciate any ideas.

I have a buddy thats giving me the chain hoist out of his shot,not sure of the weight

Looks like it will work. I've used a 1 ton hoist to hold the nose of my hawk off the trailer. 2 stands in the back, hoist in the front, then a few blocks along the keel just as a precaution. Boat stands are cheap though under $100 each, and if you lower the tongue of the trailer to the floor and tighten the stands to hull, the stern will be off the trailer as you jack it back up. Jack it as high as you can, hoist up another couple inches, lower the tongue back down as the boat hangs and slide the trailer out.

If you're only buffing the bottom why not have a marina use a travel lift or rack storage fork lift and put it on blocks for you ?

Thanks for the suggestion,Where can I find stands for 100.00 .Ill prob spend that modifying these. I'm trying figure out a hoist for the front,Guessing it needs to be atleast 5000lbs?

I want to work on the boat at my pace and inside, Theres no Marina around here to do that.It will give me something to do during winter layup.

Brownells used to have a system for removing boats from trailers, similar to yard-arms but not as expensive. But I don't recall if it was robust enough to remove a 388 from the trailer.

They have these for when the boat is off the trailer so you can work on it, for what they cost I would build my own set.
