YUP! THEY SUCK! I had a "stated value" policy for $38K on my twin 21 Liberator. I hit a log and they decided to total it. They sent there "specialist" up from Miami to look at it. This boat was just like new with twin 260 Merc outboards, custom paint and interior, and 4 years old. He told me that it was only worth 14K BEFORE the accident. I told him I could get as many apraisals as he wanted and they'd all be over $40K. I also told him I had a stated value policy and they had to pay $38K. He said "sorry, that's all we are paying" 3 months and a lawyer later, they coughed up the $38K and $4500 to my lawyer.
ALWAYS ASK FOR A STATED VALUE POLICY. That way, there's no BS on what you will get paid. |

When I first brought the boat down here last October they sent a appraiser over to inspect the boat and he took tons of pics, which didn't bother me because my boat is flawless and that's why I want to make sure that after paying them $1,400 bucks a year that they won't jack me around.
Last years premium was $1,200 and it went up to $1,400 for this year, Sy told me because of Hurricane Sandy, I said WTF did that have to do with me, he said it does. My 353 only has 502s in and on it's best day goes 70mph, so it's not like I'm a twenty year old kid out running all over the place. I talked to Sy already !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You have a great deal! I cant believe its under $2000! I have a similar size boat 342/600's and mine is $2552 year. Does it make a difference if you are on the east or west coast of Florida? |
