Formula 357 vs Scarab III 34

Always liked the 80's Formula 357 and 34 scarab!! Whats pro's and cons to these two boats?? Which one would you guys choose and why?? Kinda looking for a good deal on one of these!!

I have had an 89 ScarabIII for about five or six years and its one of the best boats I have ever had. Its very comfortable to weekend on and sleeps six easy if need be. Mine handles rough water pretty well but I've tweaked mine a bit. I put new stringers and transom in it three or four years ago and jacked up the X dimension about two and a half inches. Single best mod I've ever done in terms of what I got out of it. Completely different boat now and can spin a B1 where it should be, the original x dim was more for the old school three blades from back then. My boat reacts to trim, carries better and just plain rides better with then new set up. I will be selling mine very soon as I am just about done with this one and want another project a 38 Scarab Excel to be exact. Within my fleet of boats I consider this the performance Winnebago for the water :D its a great boat, love it.

the Formula is a little sportier looking and will probably be faster with same power but the ScarabIII is better laid out and more comfortable.

357 is really a 37'7 feet boat with swim Platform. the scarab is a 34 with swim... a 34 will runclose to 10 mph faster with same engine

The 34 SCARAB hull is 33' 10" then add for the swim platform. Approx. 36 feet long. The Formula will have a smoother ride because it is a heavier boat. But it will be much slower with the same HP. I looked at buying one before I found and bought the SCARAB 34. Are YOU looking for a cruiser or a true offshore boat.
The Scarab will handle rough water.

I would buy the Formula over the Scarab if rougher water is in the plan, I was not impressed with the Scarab III ride for what I thought it would be, maybe part of it is being compared to my Mistress that is just built more solid and heavier..... good boat overall, love the cabin in the Scarab III for sure, I bet Dave's rides real good if he stiffened it up a little....they were ahead of their time in looks for the years...

The 357 is a Big boat, ride good and look sweet... timeless...

after parting one of each out, I was surprised on both on the amount of fiberglass not tied together to make them both more solid...more of a production type layup boats are like that..

I'm just looking for something with basic power it's more about the room Cabin space and cockpit space!! I just like the looks of both boats wanted everybodys opinion
