Are 1200's enough for Key West?
So Randy Kent and Reggie III are back, after a messy divorce and selling off everything (yes all the Speed Racer boats too) including a very lucrative business in order to get the divorce settled, we are back. We had such a great time winning the World Championships with Speed Racer in 2006, it has taken me 7 years to build everything up again. Buying everyone's left overs on a nickel and a prayer, we have been working very hard to make something out of nothing. I purchased the old Bud Select MTI as a basket case, traded, swapped and begged for a pair of well used Mercury 1200's, and here we are. So I ask.......Do we even have a prayer in the unlimited class against the GIANTS of Off-Shore with there unlimited budgets and Mercury 1650's? Well we will give it our best! I couldn't have done it without the support of Reggie III and Real Fast Marine (building everything in the boat and set-up), Mark Morris at Visual Imagination (killer paint) and Mark Boos at Precision Marine (just rebuilt my oil bleeding, wore out 1200's)
The MARINE CONCEPTS RACE TEAM look's forward to racing and seeing everyone in Key West. |
Ask yourself this, how often do those 1650 wonderboats finish the race at the same speed they started????

1650's vs 1200's, bigger numbers yes, but do they have heart. Good luck, and have fun racing. In the end you will feel the satisfaction of all the hard work with all your friends.

Randy
its 3 days of racing and you never know what can happen. All u can do is your best and the rest will take care of itself. Good luck to all the teams in KW. |

Clearly 1200s in a MTI will not be able to compete with the big cats with 1650s, the only way that would be possible is if those 1200s were in a Fountain, Reggie should have told you that. GOOD LUCK!

if rough water and can't go full speed the 1200's will do just fine

Best of luck. Reliability is key. Go get em!
