Excuse to leave work early...

So tomorrow looks like its going to be the LAST nice day here in Michigan. Mostly sunny and 63... Which in my opinion is a great day on the river. I have two personal days left for the year and figure taking a half day would be worth it, which is 12noon leave time. But I've never done such a last minute leave work early excuse... You guys ever do this sort of thing?

I do it all the time! :evilb:

As long as you have the time to use, I'd say go for it! I actually did it yesterday to get one last day in.

Can't say I've ever "called in sick" or lied about where I was to go boating. Everyone just assumes if it's a nice day, I'm boating. I'd be busted within an hour!

My boss is a real tool so when I wanna go boating I put some horse tranquilizer in the coffee pot.

I never thought of roofying the boss, his secretary, sure, but never the boss.......

Personally, I never call in sick, or leave early "sick"

I just say "I won't be in" or "I have to go"
That way if some off shift Supervisor sees me, or company "bag licker" type decides to rat me out I can say "Hey, I never SAID I was sick! I just said I wouldn't be in"

One less thing to worry about getting caught in

I've met Dans boss. Mr. Mirror can be hell to deal with. Although, his other boss does show up in his Avatar sometimes lol

On the subject though lol.... I've taken off for boating days last minute.. If you have leave to burn, no reason to not use it if you want.

My situation is a bad one. Even though I AM my boss, I have an exceptionally guilty conscious....and the boat is sitting in the shop. So, if my employees simply look over and see that the boss is not there and the boat is missing, I'm sure they will know the drill.

Wait...why do I feel bad about this?

I just got to work about 30min ago... its official... its going to be 62-63 degrees and sunny all day with little to no wind. Pretty much going to just say I have a personal matter to take care of and charge me 1/2 day personal time. And you can reach me by my cell if you need me.

I think its best not to make up something i guess... something personal seems for logic and believable.

If you've got the time use it, live everyday like it's your last, have fun.

To remedy this you need to start taking your employees with you...maybe get some straws

In a hundred years, will anyone give a sh*t?

Go.

The only way we can condone this activity is if you post pix of your outing! Be safe and stretch it out one time before you put it in hibernation.

Sunny32SSR 10-30-2013 09:55 AM

I've always use, "I'm want to go boating so I'm going to leave now".

Never had a problem with it!

park35 10-30-2013 09:58 AM

I always take Mon off during the summer..and I have to admit I have banged in sick last minute... But my boss is cool with it as he knows once summer is over its all about the green backs..

VoodooRob 10-30-2013 10:07 AM

Its always best for an employee to just be up front about it, use your time off as just that, time off from work. As an employer, be up front and give me a 100% when your at work, no problem on my end when you ask for something.

Cole2534 10-30-2013 10:14 AM

I'd tell my boss I was leaving, but he's already beat me out the door...

halfgassed 10-30-2013 10:53 AM

I just tell him flat out, I even make a point throughout the year to say "once boating season's here dont expect to see me here much"

Or when I see a nice day in the forecast, "Just a heads up, the boats washed and the weather looks nice tommorrow, I probably wont be here."

It was really great, my former boss was a boater, so he understood. He'd let me work 1 hour extra all week long, come friday, I had my 40 in by 9am. Although it used to upset him when he'd show up at the docks 4 hours later....and I'd say "Your late."

My favorite mid week one was "How's my work load today, your cooler is calling my name."

One time he was vacationing in a near by harbor and I wanted to dump friday.......I was pretty close to running the boat over, idle up behind his @ the slip, open up the silent choice, "hey you mind if Itake the day off?"

Aussie695 10-31-2013 10:46 AM

Ended up making it out yesterday and had a wonderful time, ran the boat hard and went through a full tank in 3-4 hours.
