Anyone go down in boat size and not regret it? twins to a single?
Just as the tittle says.
|
Yes! I went from a 311 Formula with 2 HP500 EFI to a Y2K Superboat with one of those 500's. Ran just as fast, nice ride, and twice the gas mileage. Cabin was not as nice and no enclosed head, but as a runner it was a nice boat.
|
We did, from 28 twins to single 20.

Maybe I'm too young still but every time I look at my boat I think it looks smaller. I don't think I could do it, but I do realize that a 15 whaler would be REALLY easy

If you want to downsize I have an 18ft Formula, Id trade.
|
I'm not looking to downsize I'm looking to go up but I don't want to go too big that it becomes a pain in the ass. I have and 18ft run about and a cruiser so I'm thinking something in-between but you see so much about people wishing they went bigger etc.

Went from a 38 Top Gun to a 30 Scarab CC. Very happy!
|
How big of a cruiser do you have? Maybe a change in style like a sportier cruiser, easy example would be going from a Formula 37PC to the 350SS or 353FS.
Suggested the style change since you already have a good combo size wise. |
Went from 16single to 22s to 28Twin to 24s to 26s F-1 to 27s F-1 to 30s. Narrowed it down to a very efficient hull with a single. You are starting in the right place thinking about the hull. I wanted something reasonably fast with a not too crazy power plant. Looked at the cat idea recently but just can't justify the $ for insurance. More than 10 times higher
than a fast v hull for me. And they really did not want to write it |
Went from a 29 fountain to a 27.
Easier to pull, its newer, nicer, more power, and faster. No regrets. 2' don't sound like much but I can tell a big difference. |
