A friend sent me this picture of mercury racing's new qc4v 1650 they unveiled at the SEMA show this week. All I know is it is 9.0L 4 valve per cylinder, looks to be naturally aspirated and makes 1650 horsepower. ...:eekdrop:. Oh and the msrp is 68k

68k seems reasonable . . . . that doesn't sound right :D

wonder how "streetable" that can be made? pretty sweet piece . . . .

I think you'll find it's the turbo'd 1650 that's been stripped to the long block and intake.

Something is not right here..... Same HP as there turbo set up. 68k ..........

Could be very streetable - 1/4 mile at a time!

I would be surprised if the $68K was a running 1650hp... otherwise there would be some VERY offended (keeping the "G" rating) boat owners who ante'd up the full sticker price in recent years

I guess I t could be a twin turbo 1650 in longblock form with no turbos .......... waiting to here more

Mercury had a 1650 longblock on display that will come with automotive style turbochargers. The customer will be responsible for supplying their own exhaust system.

Don't forget that the 1650 QC4v marine engine package comes with not only the engine and its marine water jacketed turbos and exhaust manifolds, but it also comes with an M8 outdrive, M series transom assembly, and a hydraulic transmission that handles well over 1800hp. Take all that away and the cost will drop significantly. $68k is too bad considering that a 1350 longblock retails for $97k.

Jason from Speed on The Water posted a Thread about this a couple of days ago with a lot more detail...

What does it weigh? Anybody know?

Keep in mind, there arent any problems with reversion so the cam can be fairly radical. I am sure tubular car hearers alone would be worth some HP too.

Whoever builds the headers will have some guidelines to by in order to keep the incredible torque curve that the QC4v's achieve.
