raceboat rus 12-03-2013 09:33 AM

Years ago I had an off the chain pro street car a full tube frame car with a blower motor and no short cuts taken all high dollar . , when I would race it I had all these guys wanting to race there bottle feed junk boxes for money or title . , , I got tired of their BS and there bickering like on the original Pinks , and often spoke about how much better the class of the situation is racing boats . When I showed to race the car , they would say there is that race boat guy , then race boat rus , then the name sort of stuck . RaceBoat Rus came from racing cars

Katanna 12-03-2013 09:45 AM

Mine is a combination of my daughters names, Kathryn and Anna.
Its also a sword and my boat cuts through the water pretty nice.
My wife looked it up and told me the urban dictionary states "its a cool way to say I want to **** you" thats all I needed to hear!

KRAUSMOTORSPORTS 12-03-2013 10:02 AM

Mines Kinda Simple but has a cool story...... It started between my dad and grandfather who's footsteps I gladly follow and with honor. We have never bad mouthed anybody as if we were made that way. Step on us once shame on us do it twice you never receive another ounce of help from us! Words from my Pop! Pop worked for GM for many years..maybe 30? All of us born and raised on the water had 7 boats at the time and not one of us had a boaters license! (At the time) I'm 29 now. Through the years Dads knowledge of building engine spreads throughout the area and kinda took off from there. We wanted to get into it full time with my knowledge of new tech and his old schools ways we could really have something. He said Chesapeake Performance Boating Center and I said KrausMotorSports which I got from my dad's brothers as we would joke around with the idea. But we have built many big Horsepower engines, n/a , blower engines, hot rods etc... And impressed some engine dyno owners with our unique combos and tuning skills! Even done some work for Mercruiser as a consultant in a event where the buyer of a EFI single screw blower cat. ( I was too young to remember vendor) was not happy with guaranteed top speed, we offered our services and gave them what they expected( this is where I lost my dads jacket that BIGGUS helped me out with) thank you again sir!. But it Really felt great. I give it up to my dad and pop for teaching me the proper old school way where a handshake was a guarantee and honost. And how to spend lots of money which I'm sure the wife is appreciate of! ;-) but she has her own hotrods! Maybe one day I could build shop where we could "tinker" again as life has changed in so many ways. Sorry it was a bit long but I'm very proud of my SN. I use it on every chance possible. Thanks (btw this thread is a WIN)

TW720HVY 12-03-2013 10:03 AM

In my past life I flew for TWA (Trans World Airlines) and on the flight paperwork our flight numbers always began with TW, flight 720 was STL to LHR (London Heathrow) and lastly the HVY is for heavy because the airplane we flew over there was a 767-300 which weighted over 300,000Lbs. The "heavy" is part of our radio call sign to alert controllers and other pilots that there are additional requirements for in trail spacing for take-offs and landings.

So TW720HVY is what it looked like on our paper work.

tbirdusa 12-03-2013 10:50 AM

When I starting looking at forums, that's what I was driving. Of course, Tbird was taken so I had to add something to the backend of it. Pride in my country was the obvious answer.

ALL_IN! 12-03-2013 10:51 AM

Mine may be obvious, but I used to be a very "in to it" Harley rider. Now, I'm an "I'm over it" Harley owner. It costs really nothing to keep it in the garage, just in case we want to go for a ride. But if it's nice enough to ride, it's nice enough to boat. ...so it sits alot.

I've had the screen name for years, and it's much easier for me to remember. I'm probably the only easyrider1340 in the world! ha!

Easy Rider: great biker movie
1340: 1340 cc Harley motor (80 ci)

....has nothing to do with boating.

glassdave 12-03-2013 10:59 AM

pretty common knowledge here :D . . . . the origins of my name go way back to the early 90's. I have done fiberglass work since highschool in the 80's. I worked at a cousins Club Car golf cart dealership and painted thousands of fleet and private carts and most were FG. After high school i bought a building and did mostly Corvettes (resto and customs) along with many other 50's and earlier type cars and streetrods. I always seemed to drift back to doing lots of glasswork though weather it be Vettes, customs, motorhomes, boats or ???. Having been on the water most of my life eventually my boats got bigger and so did my glass biz and eventually i shifted into nearly all marine glass work. The name came in the early 90's from a friend of mine that i boated with, he had two friends named Dave one that was an electrician and one that did glass work (me lol). and he always referred to me as glassdave and the other as electriciandave to his wife hence the name:D heck for all i know there is a website somewhere called electronicsonly.com and they have a member named electriciandave lol . . . .

CC230 12-03-2013 11:09 AM

I have a Chris Craft Scorpion 230.

eightsecmopar 12-03-2013 11:31 AM

I have an 8 second Small block 1970 Challenger T/A. Was my first car and still have it. I don't race any more because it was getting crazy expensive to be somewhat competitive, that's when I got into boating.

I live near Philadelphia, my name is Stephen R. Jones, I am an attorney, There was a race horse owned by the Chapman family (Philadelphia area family) called "Smarty Jones" which won the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness, and fell just short at Belmont (that was a very sad day). I may not be the brightest bulb, but I am no dummy so hence people started calling me Smarty. So the screen name on OSO became "Smarty." Pictures below: me Stephen "Smarty" Jones, and the horse "Smarty Jones"

mallatt442 12-03-2013 12:17 PM

Last name and an affinity for Oldsmobile 442s. At one time I had 5, now down to 2 69 442s (one rag top one holiday coupe) 2 69 Cutlass' and a 70 Cutlass. In addition, I have a 56 Bel Air (frame off) and a 62 SS Impala (frame off) about 75% complete. I used to jokingly refer to them as my retirement fund, but with the prices the way they are, it is becoming less and less of a joke. LOL!

1989mach1 12-03-2013 12:24 PM

not much behind mine just the year and model of my first boat and didn't think the name of the boat would fly

36Tango 12-03-2013 12:45 PM

3936T was the tail number on an airplane that I was a partner in at the time. When communicating on the radio, it was "Three Six Tango"

That's a cool story, good for you.

huskyrider 12-03-2013 01:30 PM

I've ridden Husqvarna dirtbikes since the early 70's, although I've ridden Jap bikes for a very long time now I still ride and collect classic Husky's.
It was my handle on CB radios way before home computers and forums that became my screenname too.

See ya,
Kelly

RebarBox 12-03-2013 01:38 PM

My dogs name was 'Rebar', he was a 'Box'er. It's what I came up when I signed up... cause everything with 'cigarette' in the name seemed to be taken.:cartman:

Dukedonzi 12-03-2013 01:48 PM

My dog's name is Duke... my boat is a Donzi...

When I first typed this I fat fingered the keyboard so it read my dong's name is Duke... having thought about it, that would have been a better explanation, and he is a "Wiener" dog. :coolcowboy:

Crude Intentions 12-03-2013 02:19 PM

My soon to be ex wife is an ICU nurse. so it was gonna be the name of the boat. Boat gone and as soon as we can sign papers shes gone. Then I need to change it if they will allow. Maybe BoatsNHoes or FountainsNSkanks. Not sure.

Just an FYI, id you want to change your name you can have it done. Just ask, but PLEASE don't everyone jump at once.

Hit a report post from yourself and in the comments add why you want it changed. However, if you want it changed because you were "drunk and couldn't spell" at the time it was created we will let you keep the mistake.

Cool. My uncle was a Husky rider back in the 70's as well.

Keytime 12-03-2013 05:34 PM

Keytime is official race time in an enduro. I raced for 10 years and exceeded my expectations in the sport. Much of the toughness/resilience in enduro carries over to running a boat hard, thus my using the name for my boat. It's funny how few people ask what it means... and how little I care. :drink:

deemo99 12-03-2013 05:36 PM

deemo = nickname from D.Moore like my tools are labeled and I own a 99 3000GT VR-4, I use this name pretty much everywhere cuz it's easy.

Have considered changing as we finally have a name for our boat, The Flying Pig. Grew up on Oinker's Away so finding a name that indicates the clan is cool. Now we need a big ass high-hp cat for a real flying pig!

s022mag 12-03-2013 05:39 PM

Mine was my college email address, I use it for just about every login, makes it easy to remember. I assume the s=student 022 is the 22nd undergrad with the initials mag.

harleybagger 12-03-2013 09:58 PM

Before I worked for Harley, I bought an ElectraGlide in 1996, stripped it and customized it. My buddies used to put all their chicks cr*p in my saddlebags saying put your stuff in the "Bagger".... The term stuck.

stillboatin 12-03-2013 10:26 PM

My first boat at the age of 21 was a 1986 chris craft stinger. This was in 2004. My friends and I redid the interior of the boat and it turned out awsome.... problem was I think we should have redone the motor instead. When the old 351 decided lit wanted to go she ran like hell but I would say around 75% of the time we were broke down.... aka STILLBOATIN. We were out there we just weren't getting anywhere fast. I sold that boat about 5 years ago. Ill be back though.

RT930turbo 12-03-2013 10:44 PM

RT = Name is Artie, 930Turbo = I'm kind of a Porsche nut. Been using it for just about everything online, figured it makes it easy to remember. Also kind of nice when you "recognize" someone from another forum.
