38 Fountains appear to be less expensive than 38 TG's . Is there really that much difference, or is there a premium for tge Cigarette brand?

As a multiple fountain owner, I will say Cig's, fit and finish will be better. Fountains will be faster. The cig is heavier so it will feel more stable in bigger water. Cig will also have a considerably larger cabin. I'd still prefer a fountain based on investment vs. return, but I am biased.

38 Top Gun is a benchmark design, TS being more expensive and faster, a legendary boat. The hulls are built well and when cared for, really reward owners with a top notch experience. They command top dollar, also they are the most recognized brand in offshore boating. Fountains are lighter and more speed focused, Cigarettes trade some speed for a heavier layup. Fountains also incorporate the swim platform when measuring length, the cigarette does not. Beam on Fountains is wider but cockpit is smaller. For us we wanted a low windshield and a 100MPH boat so I found a 38 Lightning full staggered to get us there. There are many pros and cons to each, I wouldn't hesitate to own either one. Research both, view them both in person and if you can ride in them. You will know what is right for you and your budget.

I have a 27 foot fountain with a 500 hp carb running a 24 hydromotive 4 blade. I have heard several different stories about the top speed mine is running 73 at 5100rpm on gps am I missing something here everyone else claims to be closer to 80? I also noticed several people have the 415hp motor running a 26 pitch prop how can this be is my motor getting worn out it has 527 hours on it and runs great. It currently is using some oil I am told this is normal but I am not buying into that maybe how much is normal.

I have the 500efi's and they do use oil. I have under 450 hours on mine. I stopped using as much oil when I switched to vr1 20w/50.

Also they may be running b1's not hydromotives
